Beal City dominates Riverview Gabriel Richard in D8 Final

Friday morning stared with a D8 tilt between Beal City and Riverview Gabriel Richard. The Beal City Aggies notched a state title with a convincing win over an RGR team that had a spectacular season of their own. Below are the standout performers from Friday morning!    Joey showed early and often why he was a Air Force commit! He was a large part of the RGR offense all season long, and was again a mainstay offensively all morning for the Pioneers.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Great size allowed him to plow through smaller defenders and weak arm tackles </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Great vision, exploited the smallest creases for maximized runs </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Displayed great patience, let his blockers lock on and cut directly off the blocks </li> </ul>     The ability to pass effectively in division 8 is a huge advantage. Nick did a tremendous job orchestrating the RGR air attack to compliment their great run game! On top of that, he was very solid on defense!   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Very good arm strength, was able to push the ball down field with ease </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Accurate on short routes and timing routes </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Willing and able in the run game to hurt the defense with his feet, especially on 3rd or 4th down </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Had a couple of tackles that saved touchdowns </li> </ul>     Drew was all over the field for Beal City! He did a tremendous job offensively of running hard and dragging defenders with him. Defensively he was a ball hawk DB who was able to come away with some big PBUs and an interception.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Hard nosed RB with good contact balance </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Solid contact balance, was able to stay on his feet despite being hit multiple times for extra yardage </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Great change of direction and closing speed as a DB, along with coming up to stop the run </li> </ul>     Owen was a 2 way star all day! Offensively and defensively he was making tons of plays for Beal City!   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Absolute thumper on defense, came up to make some big hits in the run game </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Great play diagnosis and ability to quickly get where he needs to be</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Had a great circus catch for a TD </li> </ul>     You wont find many people who outworked Drew in this game. He was constantly in the backfield, beating offensive linemen off the ball and creating chaos.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Great first step was giving offensive linemen nightmares </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Kept his leverage and never got moved off of his spot </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Very disciplined, did not collapse down and give up outside contain </li> </ul>     Derek was all over for RGR. Offensively he was a constant deep threat at receiver and looked great running all types of routes. Defensively he is a DB with good technique and was out to hit when he came downhill!   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Runs great routes, had very good footwork and acceleration </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Good vertical allowed him to win any 50/50 ball</li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Shed blocks on defense very well and broke down to make tackles </li> </ul>     Drake was great doing the dirty work of the Beal City defense. He was in on a ton of stops, taking on blocks and forcing everything back inside to his teammates.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Took good pursuit angles and displayed some good speed sideline to sideline </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Very sure tackler, broke down and made sure to not bite on any moves </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>No problem taking on lead blockers and creating a stack up in the hole </li> </ul>     Kris was a very big part of the passing game for RGR, who needed some explosive plays. Kris was a senior leader of this squad and put it all out there for his team.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Very good on short routes with great change of direction </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Sure hands, looks in the ball </li> </ul>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li>Gets the job done after the catch with great vision and open field quickness </li> </ul>
