Colon is a quick twitched and snappy interior pass rusher that has a quick first step, violent hands at the POA and shows a variety of power rush moves at his disposal from the inside. He is an elite athlete for his size, shows lateral movement abilities and COD when collapsing the pocket while able to quickly recognize blocks and redirect to the ball backside. He is an elite edge defender with tremendous initial explosion in hand violence at the point of attack that can win with both speed and power. He has a quick lockout and disengage while very technically sound and plays with a low hat and good initial power out of his hips. He is a natural bender that can beat bigger blockers with a variety of pass rush moves and shows quick block recognition and a relentless pursuit to the ball. McDonald has a frame to continue to pack on more weight throughout his college career and has been severely under recruited and should be a nice late steel for a program as we near national signing day. He can cover the entire field with elite instincts, closing speed and range on the back end while showing tremendous tackling abilities when dropping into the box and making open field plays. He does a excellent job at baiting quarterbacks into bad throws before triggering, shows he can get off blocks in space and has very fluid hips in transition with man coverage skills as well. Overall, he is a very well balanced safety prospect that should have college opportunities already but has been flying under the radar as of late. He is a true athlete in the middle of the Grant defense and has tremendous instincts, a downhill mentality and brings good physicality to the point of attack. He is a quick twitched and natural bender when applying pressure, shows he can take good angles in the open field and explodes through contact on ball carriers. He is a high motor guy that is seemingly always around the ball and has plenty of experience as he heads to the next level. The senior is also a high IQ kid that sniffs out plays quickly and has cover abilities downfield against bigger backs and receivers.
