With all the talent still on the board, I wanted to start an “Uncommitted Senior Series” to highlight 2025 prospects still going through their recruiting process. These are players who I think have the potential to produce at the next level and can fill out any recruiting needs for your team.

Next up, I have six uncommitted seniors who I believe could help bolster your defense!

[player_tooltip player_id='305114' first='Cam' last='Bell'] (Twitter), DL - Omaha Westside - 6'0" 250 lbs

Already one of the top disruptors on the defensive line, [player_tooltip player_id='305114' first='Cam' last='Bell'] came back his senior year leaner and meaner while taking his game to another level. The Westside senior slimmed down his frame over the offseason and has appeared faster and more explosive this season. Bell has also seen a move to defensive end after playing tackle last year, and it looks like there hasn't been any drop-off. The part of Bell's game that stands out the most is Bell's strength, which allows him to press blockers off of him and has the leg drive to bull-rush even the sturdiest linemen. Effective use of hands to disengage from blocks. An underrated aspect of Bell's game is the quickness/agility he has for someone his size, as he flashes a lot of explosiveness when firing out of his stance with the burst to chase down ball carriers in the backfield. Great first step with nice bend coming around the edge. Cam also does a good job using his low center of gravity to maintain great leverage against opponents. One of the more under-the-radar players on the recruiting trail with an offer from Sioux Falls. Get after this guy ASAP!

[player_tooltip player_id='319450' first='Harper' last='Rutan'] (Twitter), DL - Millard South - 6'1" 215 lbs

With all the playmakers the Patriots have on the defensive line, a few names have gone under the radar, including senior [player_tooltip player_id='319450' first='Harper' last='Rutan']. Despite the deep rotation at DL, Harper has still put up solid numbers with 24 tackles, 8 TFLs, and 3.5 sacks this season. Rutan projects well as a defensive end but I could also see him shifting over to OLB at the next level and just letting him pin his ears back to pressure the QB. He's fast getting off the ball and has long strides that allow him to gain ground on the opposing lineman quickly. Fast, strong hands allow him to swipe away at blockers. Rutan also does a good job setting linemen up so that he can counter with an inside move to break into the backfield. Good job setting contain and maintaining the edge against the run. Great push at the initial point of contact with the strength to anchor down and drive his opponents. Non-stop motor. Still holding out for his first offer, don't miss out on this defensive player with massive upside!

[player_tooltip player_id='319202' first='Ben' last='Madrigal'] (Twitter), DL - Elkhorn North - 6'0" 295 lbs

Elkhorn North's [player_tooltip player_id='319202' first='Ben' last='Madrigal'] has become a top interior DL in Class B this season. Although the stats may not pop off the screen for Madrigal, it's hard to deny his impact in the trenches, as he is constantly doing the dirty work to help his teammates make plays. One part of Ben's game that I was impressed with was his versatility along the defensive line, playing a lot of 1 and 3-technique, but also showing that he can move out to DE or play as a true nose tackle. Madrigal displays a lot of explosiveness in his game, starting with his hips as he shoots out of his stance and in his hands as he flashes a nice pop when making contact. His combination of strength and size allows him to eat up space in the middle of the defense while still being able to use his hands to disengage from defenders. Good footwork and lateral quickness. Madrigal holds an offer from Hastings College but will likely have more when he's ready to announce his commitment.

[player_tooltip player_id='1059038' first='Tye' last='McDougal'] (Twitter), LB - Papillion-La Vista South - 6'2" 210 lbs

I'm sure the Titans are excited to have senior LB [player_tooltip player_id='1059038' first='Tye' last='McDougal'] back on the field this season. After missing a good part of last year due to injury, McDougal has made a great comeback, leading the team with 59 total tackles while also tallying 12.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. McDougal is a player who passes the eye test immediately at 6'2 and 210 pounds with a frame that projects well to the next level. With his strong frame, McDougal flashes as a sure tackler who uses good technique and can bring the boom with each hit he makes. McDougal's gap integrity was impressive, as he did a great job reading his keys before exploding downhill to make a big play at or behind the LOS. His ability to stay square to the line and lateral quickness allow him to cover sideline-to-sideline and adjust to the pass/run on the fly. Tireless pursuit. Good athleticism— 4.72 40-yard dash, 1.69 10-yard, 4.28 pro agility, and a 33.7" vertical jump. Offer this guy ASAP!

[player_tooltip player_id='546019' first='Layne' last='Boever'] (Twitter), LB - Bennington - 5'10" 200 lbs

Layne is a very consistent and effective player who produces year in and year out for the Badgers. The senior linebacker has already tallied 66 tackles, a TFL, a fumble recovery, and a forced fumble this season while making an impact deeper than the stat sheet. When watching Layne's tape, I see a very smart player with great instincts that allow him to always be in a great position to make a play and flow to the ball effortlessly. Boever is well-rounded as a linebacker, as he does an excellent job getting downhill against the run and can quickly flip his hips when dropping into coverage. Good sideline-to-sideline range with a quick trigger to the ball once he diagnoses the play. Solid tackler with great technique and physicality. Layne holds an offer from Dordt but will likely tack on a few more during the winter recruiting season.

[player_tooltip player_id='305110' first='Anthony' last='Liggins'] (Twitter), DB - Omaha Central - 5'9"

Senior CB [player_tooltip player_id='305110' first='Anthony' last='Liggins'] and the Eagle's defense are playing their best football at the right time, as they have taken out ranked teams in three consecutive weeks. Liggins' lockdown defense on the perimeter has been a big contributing factor to this hot streak. Although he may not be the biggest DB, he displays a fearless, aggressive, and physical play style. Liggins does a great job being physical at the LOS with his willingness to jam receivers and his ability to use his hands to break up passes. He also shows a willingness to help out in run support to stop any runs to the outside. Watching Anthony's tape, I was impressed with how shifty and twitchy he is, using clean footwork and loose hips to change directions while in coverage quickly. Very instinctive and quick to break on the ball with the ball skills to force interceptions. Liggins holds a pair of offers from Missouri Southern and Peru State... definitely a player who should be getting more attention!
