As our staff prepares for each week, we make an effort to feature different programs for our Top Game previews. However, Week 6 will be a different story for the Kansas City area. Yes, most of the teams in this report have been highlighted previously. But these three big-time matchups could not go without mentioning.

These three games feature some of the top teams from Class 5A and Class 6A, and each roster is filled with next-level talent. It'd be difficult to choose which game to attend out of the three, but folks definitely won't want to miss out on the action.

Blue Valley (5A) 4-1 vs. BVNW (6A) 4-1

This huge rivalry game between the Blue Valley Tigers and the Blue Valley Northwest Huskies sets up to be arguably the biggest game from the EKL this season. Two prospects to keep an eye on are [player_tooltip player_id='570190' first='Maguire' last='Richman'] (BV) and [player_tooltip player_id='586960' first='LJ' last='Bowens'] (BVNW).

Richman is on pace for over 100 total tackles for the third season in a row, and he's helped the Tigers' defense hold opponents to just 59 points through five games. For the Huskies, Bowens has been a breakout star in his first season as the feature back, as he's averaging 7.5 yards per carry and has rushed for 150 yards or more in back-to-back weeks.

Mill Valley (5A) 4-1 vs. Gardner-Edgerton (6A) 5-0

If folks were intrigued by that first preview, then they'll really love this one. The Sunflower League matchup between the Mill Valley Jaguars and the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers is a battle between reigning state champions.

These two squads have some dynamic athletes on offense, and two that are likely to make an impact in this game are [player_tooltip player_id='1310981' first='Reggie' last='Reece'] (MV) and [player_tooltip player_id='733500' first='Bravin' last='Powell'] (GE). The Trailblazers' defense will have it's hands full with junior running back, [player_tooltip player_id='1310981' first='Reggie' last='Reece']. He's been another breakout star this season and has already eclipsed 1,000 yards rushing. However, the Jags will be tasked with slowing down one of the top dual-threat quarterbacks in the state in [player_tooltip player_id='733500' first='Bravin' last='Powell'].

Blue Valley West (6A) 4-1 vs. BVSW (5A) 2-3

Last but certainly not least is another exciting rivalry game from the Blue Valley School District. The Blue Valley West Jaguars head into this matchup looking for payback after falling to Blue Valley Southwest in 2023. But for the Timberwolves, a win over West could help them regain momentum after stumbling the previous two weeks.

This game features two outstanding athletes that can make an impact in a variety of ways. Kansas Jayhawk commit, [player_tooltip player_id='1112369' first='Tate' last='Nagy'], is sure to be the focal point of Blue Valley West's offense in this one. Nagy's accounted for over 1,300 yards of total offense and 14 total touchdowns this season. On the other side is standout out two-way junior [player_tooltip player_id='1306210' first='Angelo' last='Keuwo'] (BVSW). He's racked up nearly 800 all-purpose yards this season and has found the end zone 11 times.
