5A Oregon Mid-Season All State 1st & 2nd Team "D"

Here we will break down Oregon's top players midway through the season. Per usual if you play for one of the better teams in the state, you are much more likely to be selected as an all-state athlete. This is not a recruiting-based list.   Please note there will be extended 1st & 2nd team selections in lieu of 3rd team or honorable mention picks.          It's extremely rare when Oregon has a 5* athlete. [player_tooltip player_id='739439' first='Tony' last='Cumberland'] is that guy and committed to the Ducks. 6-5 DE [player_tooltip player_id='1322075' first='Emmitt' last='Fee'] of Wilsonville is a potential 1st team all-state selection on both sides of the football.    Silverton's [player_tooltip player_id='1216435' first='Brody' last='Kuenzi'] will be a steal for someone collegiately, with [player_tooltip player_id='1103729' first='Camden' last='Roofener'] having great bloodlines and the size and speed to play and do well at the next level.    Another individual many don't know about is [player_tooltip player_id='1165802' first='Justin' last='Ditorrice'] out of North Eugene. The Highlanders have struggled in the past, but he has been a huge bright spot, currently sitting with 40 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 4 sacks.   As of right now Jr. [player_tooltip player_id='1112474' first='Riddick' last='Molatore'] of Wilsonville might be the leading candidate for 5A POY honors on the defensive side of the ball, leading the state with 10.7 tackles per game. Everyone is aware of 6-5 D1 commits [player_tooltip player_id='406754' first='Jackson' last='Doman'] and [player_tooltip player_id='407173' first='Austin' last='Simmons'] who also excel on D.    LB [player_tooltip player_id='1538661' first='Daniel' last='Kuenzi'] of Silverton is another athlete who will be in 5A POY conversation. Other standout backers include [player_tooltip player_id='754595' first='Ceville' last='Pasi'] of Churchill who will be a three-year 1st team all-conference defender and returning Tri Valley POY [player_tooltip player_id='285879' first='Jacob' last='Thayer'] of La Salle.    Don't sleep on 6-3 OLB [player_tooltip player_id='1224421' first='Carter' last='Christiansen'] who has been killin it since the Les Schwab Bowl, and Jr. LB [player_tooltip player_id='1136115' first='Cruz' last='Gray'] of Thurston who continues to put up some of the state's best numbers.    From a DB standpoint [player_tooltip player_id='511864' first='Mark' last='Wiepert'] could be a contributor for the Oregon St Beavers on D if he wanted to pursue football and baseball. Multi-sport standout [player_tooltip player_id='1216443' first='Cruz' last='Veliz'] currently leads the state in INTs with 6 even with his team likely not winning a conference game.    [player_tooltip player_id='1104615' first='Tristen' last='Collins'] returns after a 1st team all-conference season last year, with Safety [player_tooltip player_id='1209513' first='Craig' last='Maynard'] being a huge factor for a top 10 West Albany program.    One of the state's top underclassmen is 6-2 Safety [player_tooltip player_id='1232740' first='Ty' last='Hattenhauer']. His 44 tackles, 4 PBU's, and 3 TDs help highlight his versatility. Two other noteworthy kids include [player_tooltip player_id='759688' first='Lukas' last='Babbitt'] and [player_tooltip player_id='754633' first='Asa' last='Pritchard-Moa']. Babbitt transferred from Springfield and has been clutch on both sides of the ball.
