Cornerstone Christian School: Stock Risers

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Cornerstone Christian School is flipping the script of what it once was: a run-of-the-mill private school football team. Under first-year Head Coach Clayton Guillory and his hand-picked staff, Da Stone is coming to life. They stacked their schedule with top teams from all over the nation, and they want all the smoke. There have definitely been growing pains, but any program that is rebuilding and rebranding must go through this. Watch out for this squad in the coming years! Standing at 6'3 and 200 pounds, this young man is poised to make an impact for the Warriors. McCray is a fluid runner with good feet. He runs his routes well, sinks his hips on breaks and explodes off of the line. He tracks the ball well and has the ability to make big plays down field and with yards after catch on short routes. Davis is averaging over 18 yards per reception. That is the definition of big play receiver. The Junior has recently picked up an offer from UTSA, but this is only the beginning. Jaylen McKane can play multiple positions for the Warriors at a high level. This young man already has 23 solo tackles and multiple pass break ups on the defensive side of the ball. He moves very well in space and has a nose for the ball. He is a dog at DB, but he can also mix it up on the offensive side of the ball as well. Jaylen is toting the rock for over 5 yards per carry early in his high school career and it'll only get better with time. He caught my eye then and he caught my eye now. The young freshman is going to continue to turn heads over the next 3 years. On the defensive side of the ball he's averaging 5 tackles a game from the safety position. McNeil flies around the field making plays. He's very intelligent and you can tell his high football IQ slows the game down for him. He has good feet and hips, changes directions well and will bring the hat. He is the new breed of Tight End. You can split him out and have him route up your DBs or you can bring him in tight and get mismatches on linebackers or allow him to use his size to open up the running game with his blocking ability. This young man is averaging well over 13 yards per catch and its easy to see why. Big frame, solid hands and good feet create opportunities for the Warriors offense to remain balanced. He can catch the ball out of the back field, he can run around you or he can run over you. The senior runner is averaging over 6.5 yards per carry for over 725 yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. But like I said before he can catch the ball as well. Kent has over 12 yards per reception this season, showcasing his ability to score any time that he touches the rock. With interest from multiple colleges, Christian Kent is a player that you need on your recruiting board. A hardworking, do everything, every-down back. That's who a college will be getting. With 48 tackles through the midseason mark, David Bowman is having a very good season. Number 42 passes the eye test at 6'0, 200 pounds and moves very well. His hips and feet are very good, and he flies to the point of attack on every play. Bowman is the epitome of a ball hawk. He has posted a sack, multple tackles for loss a pick and a defensive touchdown so far this season. Look for him to bolster these stats as the Warriors further their season. Through midseason, Carroll has put up an impressive stat line. He is a very disruptive defender the fires off of the ball quickly and with good bend. He has 1 forced fumble and 3 fumble recoveries so far this season leading to 2 defensive touchdowns. With multiple tackles for loss you know that he is in the backfield early and often. The 6'5, 205 pound edge rusher is only going to get bigger and stronger over the next couple of years and he will be on everyone's radar. Long and athletic, Clark is built for the position at 6'3, 205. Good explosiveness at the snap of the ball with the agility and speed to get around the tackle and the strength to go through a blockers chest. This has allowed him to create quarterback pressures a sack and multiple tackles for loss. With 2.5 seasons of football ahead of him, I think it's safe to say that his potential is super high. Fayall has only played 2 games for the Warriors, but his minutes have been meaningful for the team. At 5'10, 160 pounds, Elijah is a solid build at his defensive back position. He shows great footwork and hips allowing him to stay locked on receivers. But, he has no problem coming downhill to make plays which shows with his 5 tackles a game and 1 tackle for loss.
