Concordia Prep vs. Gilman: Players who caught our attention

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I had an opportunity to check out a MIAA game between Gilman and Concordia Prep in Maryland last weekend. He patrolled the middle of the defense from his linebacker position and made plays all over the field. Trusty is a sideline-to-sideline defender, and he showed that against Concordia Prep. He consistently read his keys and anticipated where the ball carrier was going. Trusty is a solid tackler who ran through the ball carrier each time he made contact. Most of his tackles were near or behind the line of scrimmage. Outside of one long touchdown run, Gilman didn't give up many big plays in the running game. Webster did a good job of setting the edge and not letting the running backs get around him. There were a few plays where he broke through double-team attempts and made a couple of tackles in the backfield. Blagmon, who was getting a few yards here and there throughout the game, broke the game wide-open with a 70-plus-yard touchdown run down the right sideline. The tight end and tackle on the right side blocked their guys long enough for Blagmon to shoot through the whole. On that play, his vision enabled him to see that the cornerback was coming up to contain the outside, so he adjusted and cut it inside. The linebacker closest to him took a wrong angle, and he quickly ran past him. He was involved in a couple of tackles I witnessed, including a run play where he took on a block and then made the tackle, preventing the runner from getting outside. During the fourth quarter, Boakai racked up three sacks in various ways.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On two of the sacks, he used a bull rush to push the blocker backwards before eventually getting his hands on the quarterback. Deville registered at least one sack, a pass breakup, and a few tackles. One of his pass breakups came while he was on zone coverage. The Gilman tight-end ran a short route to the middle of the field and made the catch. However, Deville's quick reaction and sure tackling ensured the tight end didn't get a single yard after the catch. He made a nice break on the ball on an out-route that the Gilman quarterback was trying to complete. Robinson had a great special-teams tackle as well. That helped set the tone for the game in the Saint's favour.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I thought 2027 defensive lineman Colin [player_tooltip player_id='1256586' first='Wilson' last=''] had a solid game on defense as well for Concordia Prep. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Concordia Prep 2025 DB DB Jordan Williams was involved in several tackles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Gilman defensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1256586' first='Wilson' last=''] Bryce (2025) had a few tackles for the Greyhounds. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2028 Concordia Prep quarterback Kam Faulcon scored on a 1-yard touchdown run.
