2026 Maryland WR Prospects: New Names to Know

Prep Redzone brings you six new names to know at the wide receiver position in Maryland's class of 2026 recruiting class. These players have a good shot at being ranked during the offseason.    Through his first six games (up until 10/10/24), Cavanaugh caught 32 passes for 603 yards (18.8 yards per catch) and nine touchdowns.   Cavanaugh is a reliable target with a substantial catch radius and dependable hands, making him a consistent threat in the passing game. He has a strong understanding of zone defenses, able to find open spots to create separation and provide his quarterback with a clear throwing window. Whitmore has proven to be one of the more dependable options on Harford Tech's offense. Through seven games (10/18/24), he has ran 24 times for 429 yards (17.9 yards per catch) and six touchdowns. Whitmore also carried the football 14 times for 233 yards and two touchdowns within that same timeframe.   Whitmore is a versatile slot receiver who occasionally takes on running plays, adding variety to his team's offensive strategy. His dual role as a cornerback showcases his athleticism, making it likely he could be labeled as an "athlete" in the future. Whitmore's quickness is apparent both off the snap and in his cuts, allowing him to create separation and maneuver effectively in tight spaces. His dynamic skill set is promising, and his season-ending highlight reel should offer valuable insights into his continued growth and impact on both sides of the ball.      In his first seven games (through 10/19/24), Pross caught 30 passes for 526 yards (17.5 yards per catch) and five touchdowns.   A versatile wide receiver, he can line up effectively both in the slot and on the outside, showcasing his adaptability across the field. As a solid route-runner, he executes the full route tree with precision, consistently finding ways to get open against zone defenses. His confidence and toughness are evident as he's unafraid to make catches in traffic, securing the ball even under pressure. With a strider's speed, he maintains pace through his cuts without losing momentum. Edwards has been productive during his junior-year season. In his first seven games (through 10/17/24), Edwards caught 29 passes for 483 yards (16.7 yards per carry) and seven touchdowns. In that same timeframe, he accumulated 178 rushing yards and three touchdowns.   A dynamic two-way player, he brings excitement to the field with his ability to make plays in open space. His speed and agility make him a serious threat on bubble screens and short passes, where he has the potential to turn them into big gains. Equally effective on jet sweeps, he adds versatility to his team's offense by keeping defenses on their heels. On film, he displays impressive speed that allows him to outrun defenders and create scoring opportunities. With his skill set, his role is likely to expand even further in his upcoming senior season. Ngouzo is a skilled receiver who excels at high-pointing the football, particularly in the red zone, as shown in the opening play of his highlight reel where he confidently secures a touchdown pass. His route-running finesse is evident on the second play, where he sells an inside route before breaking to a fade and catching another touchdown.   Throughout his highlights, Ngouzo demonstrates a knack for making defenders bite on his first move, only to change direction and find himself wide open. Fisher caught 19 passes for 367 yards (19.3 yards per catch) and five touchdown in his first six games (through 10/17/24).   Fisher has capitalized on limited touches, showcasing impressive efficiency with an average of 19.3 yards per catch. His red-zone highlights reveal his knack for making big plays. On film, Fisher displays a smooth stride, allowing him to quickly close the cushion against defensive backs, and his straight-line speed stands out as one of his key assets. Additionally, he excels at tracking the football, showing a natural ability to locate and adjust to passes in the air, making him a reliable target in various situations.
