As we approach the end of the month of October, we have now made it through ten weeks of high school football in the state of Kentucky. This has been an exciting football season and Week 10 was no exception with many impressive performances. While there was a lot of talent on display this past week, some players still find a way to stand out above the rest. With the offensive side of the ball already being covered, here are my defensive top performers from Week 10 in the state of Kentucky.

[player_tooltip player_id='735605' first='Davion' last='Sturgis'] is a player who has been on my radar for a while now and continued to stand out this past Friday. Sturgis played a key role in Woodford County's dominant win over Anderson County. He lined up at outside linebacker where he was dominant off the edge as a pass rusher. Davion explodes out of his stance and uses his speed to blow by opposing offensive tackles on his way to the quarterback. He finished Friday's game with three sacks. Sturgis also showed the ability to stop the run, finishing the game with 17 tackles and one tackle for loss. Davion currently holds offers from Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, and Thomas More, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1200723' first='Crayson' last='Lafferty'] is another player who has been on my radar for a while now and continued to stand out last Friday. He was very impressive in Martin County's win over Floyd Central. Lafferty lined up at inside linebacker where he was very reliable against the run, showing the ability to read his keys and come downhill in a hurry to get to the ball carrier. Once he got to the ball carrier, he proved to be a very reliable tackler, finishing the game with 22 tackles and one tackle for loss. He also showed the ability to put pressure on the quarterback, finishing the game with one sack. Crayson doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to continued to watch over the next few seasons.

[player_tooltip player_id='1211382' first='Montez' last='Trussell'] is another linebacker who stood out to me last Friday. He made a huge impact in Bowling Green's victory over Greenwood. Trussell is dominant against the run, showing the ability to diagnose the play quickly then flow downhill to get to the ball carrier, showing the ability to shed blocks with ease along the way. He finished Friday's game with 13 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. Trussell also showed the ability to cause disruption as a pass rusher, finishing the game with 1.5 sacks. Montez doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to continue to watch over the next two seasons.

Draelen Tillman jumped onto my radar with a strong performance in Frankfort's win over Berea. Tillman lined up at defensive end where he was very impressive off the edge as a pass rusher, using his speed to blow by opposing offensive tackles with ease. He finished Friday's game with three sacks. Draelen also showed the ability to stop the run, finishing the game with nine tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss. Tillman doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to continue to watch during his senior year.

Kellen Stone is another player who has had a strong senior year and continued to impress last week. He played a huge role in Glasgow's Week 10 victory over Butler County. Stone lined up sat safety where he was very reliable in coverage, showing the ability to read the quarterback then break on the ball with perfect timing to make a play. He finished the game with two interceptions. After the interception, he showed the play making ability to take it the other way, returning both of his interceptions for touchdowns. Kellon doesn't currently hold any offers but he is a player who college coaches should keep an eye on this season.

Logan Stumbo jumped onto my radar last Friday with a strong performance in Prestonsburg's win over Knott County Central. He lined up at middle linebacker where he was very impressive against the run, showing the ability to come downhill in a hurry to meet the ball carrier before they can get going. Once he arrives at the ball carrier, he explodes through contact with a ton of physicality, not allowing for extra yards to be gained. Stumbo finished Friday's game with 20 tackles and three tackles for loss. Logan doesn't currently hold any offers but he should be a player to keep an eye on over the next couple seasons.
