Northwest visited District 4-3A rival Church Point in Week 7 determined to rewrite some recent history and further underscore its program progress flashed during last season's playoff run.

Mission accomplished, as the Raiders (5-2, 3-0) struck first and took clear control by halftime on their way to a 38-13 victory, their first in the series since 2018, with highlights in all three phases.

Here's a look at a few notes on some of the top standouts from the contest.

[player_tooltip player_id='1237765' first='Ke'Von' last='Johnson'] — 5-9, 160 RB — Northwest (2026)

The quick junior running back rose to the challenge of his heaviest workload of the season with a steady performance from start to finish with 194 yards and two touchdowns on 29 carries — an average of nearly 7 yards per attempt — showing both his shiftiness to make defenders miss with subtle cuts as he accelerated and his strength for his size powering through some contact for tough yards on the goal line and other plays between the tackles.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598246' first='Davon' last='Thibodeaux'] — 6-2, 210 DL/LB — Northwest (2025)

The Raiders' senior star lived up to expectations as the top defensive player on the field as he created havoc early and often, including a sack and forced fumble that helped spark the team's breakaway second quarter. Thibodeaux is a thickly built and strong defensive end with a high motor and the power to bowl through opposing blockers, but also some quickness to his rush moves — a combination that was on display with a couple sacks, the forced fumble, at least two others tackles behind the line and additional pressure brought throughout the contest.

Kylen Seria — 5-9, 195 LB — Northwest (2025)

The senior linebacker was another of the Raiders' active players on defense, including his scoop and 67-yard score of the second-quarter fumble forced by Thibodeaux on which Seria made the most of the opportunity to show off some of his running back background once he got his hands on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1603253' first='Reginald' last='Lavergne'] — 6-1, 180 WR — Northwest (2026)

The Raiders boast a pair of big, athletic receivers on the outside in Lavergne, a junior, and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1612641' first='Markez' last='Davis']. The older of the duo is a bit more physically filled out at this point in his development and stood out quickly Thursday on a first quarter punt return — though it would be called most of the way back — on which he escaped an attempted tackle and bounced out to the sideline and about 82 yards for an apparent score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1598252' first='Curtis' last='Harrison'] — 6-2, 295 OL/DL — Northwest (2025)

The big senior leader, an all-state honorable mention as a sophomore and all-state first-team selection as a junior, played the bulk of the snaps throughout the night at tackle on both sides of the ball and played well in both roles. Harrison was instrumental in helping pave running lanes for Johnson and company and also made a couple plays behind the Church Point line of scrimmage.

Jayden Chavis — 5-8, 170 QB/ATH — Northwest (2025)

and Craig Malveaux — 5-9, 155 RB/WR/ATH — Northwest (2025)

The senior duo provide the Raiders' offense some notable versatility and Johnson some nice complement in the backfield. Both Chavis and Malveaux showed their threat to gash their way upfield for solid gains on the ground when Johnson draws the opposing defense his direction, and Chavis also found Malveaux in the back corner of the end zone late in the third quarter for the team's only passing score.

[player_tooltip player_id='1603255' first='Jarrison' last='Reese'] — 5-9, 150 DB/WR — Church Point (2026)

The "Speedy," as his nickname indicates, junior was the brightest spot for the Bears with several big defensive plays — including two fourth-down stops near the goal line— one diving interception and another leaping deflection — plus another third-down break-up and a fumble recovery. He had multiple catches on the outside, including a long third-down conversion, and led Church Point to its first touchdown with wildcat snaps on which his quick feet through traffic were on display.

Tyrese Boast — 5-9, 150 RB/DB — Church Point (2025)

Boast, one half of the the Bears' productive senior running back duo with Jaheim Moore, didn't have one of his big games that has previously netted a nod on Prep Redzone Louisiana's weekly top performers lists. But, on a tough night overall for Church Point, he did have a couple standout moments with both his slippery running through traffic and his tight coverage outside of bigger targets.

Chad Brooks — 5-10, 180 LB/DB — Church Point (2026)

The junior hybrid linebacker/safety was among the Bears' most active tacklers in the box, particularly during a solid start to the second half on which he helped make a few stops near the line of scrimmage.
