<p>Clinton rolled up 339 yards on the ground, averaged more than seven yards per carry as a team, built a big lead, and cruised to a 49-27 win over Chapman on Thursday night.</p>

<p>That first play? <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1161156' first='Javen' last='Cook']</strong> gave folks a glimpse of what was coming. Following a 61-yard kickoff return by <strong>KJ Vance</strong>, Cook went 28 yards on the Red Devils' first touch, staking Clinton to a 7-0 lead with just 20 seconds gone.</p>

<p>Cook was fantastic all night. He rushed for more than 100 yards in the first half, averaging right at 10 yards per carry. He rushed for 156 in the game, averaging 11.1 yards per carry with a couple huge chunk plays to go with two TDs, that first 28-yarder and another 46-yard score. He found plenty of room outside, but was also content to hammer the Panthers in the middle of the defense.</p>

<p>"It was a team effort overall," Cook said. "We just get the right assignments and move it on down the field."</p>

<p>He found a bunch of success up front behind guys like <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='241184' first='Rion' last='Gordon']</strong>, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1360221' first='Cal' last='Pitts']</strong>, and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1247389' first='Hunter' last='Lawson']</strong>. The deep, experienced offensive line opened holes all night and gave the Red Devils a tremendous push up front.</p>

<p>"I love them," Cook said. "I love those dudes the most. I can't do anything by myself. The holes were just opening up, I could see the outside, and just took off."</p>

<p>Clinton QB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1012830' first='Tushawan' last='Richardson']</strong> had a relatively quiet night, completing just two passes. But one was a 20-yard first-half touchdown to <strong>Chris Boyd</strong>, and the other was a crucial 14-yarder to <strong>Kason Copeland</strong>. Copeland had a big night on the ground as well, with 93 rushing yards and touchdowns of 14 and 22 yards, both in the second quarter.</p>

<p>Boyd, meanwhile, got into the act on defense, returning a fumble 55 yards for another score. The Red Devils' defense was lights-out in the first half, allowing just 123 total yards and one touchdown before turning to the bench midway through the second half.</p>

<p>For Chapman, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='1732619' first='Justin' last='Dawkins']</strong> continued to be a bright spot offensively, rushing for 86 yards and averaging nearly eight yards per carry. <strong>Jasiah Copeland</strong> also ran it well, with 40 rushing yards and a 14-yard score. <strong>Taylor Rogers</strong> had a big offensive night for the Panthers, catching a 13-yard TD pass from <strong>Bryson Cothran</strong>, then finishing the game at QB where he was 5-for-5 for 121 yards and two scores. He threw touchdowns to <strong>Hank Tolleson </strong>and <strong>Blake Williams</strong>. Tolleson finished with 92 receiving yards, including the 75-yard TD, and added an early interception for the Panthers in the end zone to thwart a Clinton scoring chance.</p>
