Week Five Scouting Report

Week 5 is officially here! Last week, plenty of talent was on display, high-scoring games were played, and more. Our weekly scouting reports will continue to include detailed analyses of key players to monitor for the week in question, potential risers, or promising prospects who may not have garnered significant attention thus far and should watch as the season grows. Here are seven prospects to watch:    [player_tooltip player_id='1407303' first='Kayvon' last='Stringer'] and Pine Bluff host a talented team in Maumelle this Friday night. Stringer showcases his good athletic ability at the safety and cornerback spots, as he can play both positions. He has good foot speed, COD, lateral agility, and burst. Stringer displays solid read and react ability, attacking the football downhill vs. the run or arriving at the catching point to force a PBU. He has a sideline-to-sideline motor with sold angles. He recently received an offer from Central Methodist on September 21st, 2024. Bledsoe showcases consistency with solid accuracy and a smooth stroke in his game. He's able to hit around 40 yards as this season grows. Bledsoe and Marion face El Dorado Friday night, as he may be a big piece. Grimes displays good vision post-snap to locate the running lane quickly and explode through the hole with a good burst to separate from the first level immediately. Good contact balance and leg drive to break tackles. Strong hands and good hand-eye coordination with the ability to accelerate upfield post-catch. Grimes is a prospect to watch. Junction City is on the road this week vs Mineral Springs. He is a dual-threat quarterback with good arm strength and ball placement in the short to intermediate areas. His team is 2-2 as they head on the road this week vs Arkansas High. Atkins displays solid footwork within the pocket and can step up and out to evade pressure while keeping his eyes down the field, demonstrating his awareness and good mobility. He can deliver on the run with solid touch and anticipation to place the ball accurately, putting his receivers in YAC opportunities. His stat line so far this season: 74/107 (69%), 910 yards (12.3 AVG), 8 TDs, and 1 INT. 41 carries, 187 yards (4.6 YPC) and 6 TDs. He and Hot Springs are on the road this week vs Hope. Hicks showcases good speed and fluidity in the secondary. He transitions quickly, maintaining balance and sticking to his man vertically or on breaks, not allowing much room for separation. His skill set allows him to arrive at the catch point quickly, resulting in pass break-ups or interceptions. Hicks displays good use of hands to jam opposing receivers at the line in Press-Man coverage. Offensively, he's a vertical threat due to good acceleration off the line of scrimmage to eat up space quickly and get over the top. Keep an eye on Hicks this week. He'll need to bring his versatility Friday Night. Tucker displays good post-snap vision to locate the running lane quickly. He attacks the hole with good acceleration and burst through the first and second levels. He showcases good contact balance and body control to break tackles, gaining positive yards in both the run and pass. He is a fluid athlete with good lateral agility and change of direction, making himself a multi-cutback. He can hurt you vertically out wide or become elusive after the catch. Sherwin's vision allows him to locate second-level defenders, read the flow, and create in space. He can be a physical, north, and south runner who can become elusive in space due to his good lateral agility and COD, showcasing his ability to be a multi-cut back. Good contact balance, body control, leg drive, and active feet to consistently break tackles and gain positive yards. He is a prospect to watch as the season grows.
