After what has been an exciting start to the high school football season, we take a look at the top performing WRs that made their biggest impact in the passing game to start the year. Tischler had a field day as Mankato East dominated week 1 against St. Louis Park. Tischler showed great speed off his release both inside and outside the vantage point of the DBs, which allowed him to burn the secondary deep for 2 touchdowns passing. Tischler racked up great YAC numbers, showing great vision and a quick twitch, and also played well as a run blocker. As Mankato East's offense expands this year, Tischler could be due for a huge breakout season in his junior year.

Heading into a highly anticipated senior season, [player_tooltip player_id='586119' first='Dylan' last='Vokal'] didn't disappoint, as the #2 athlete in the state finished with 140 yards on 5 catches and 2 touchdowns in a blowout win over Osseo. Vokal looked spectacular in 1-on-1 situations, consistently burning CBs with precise route running and his dangerous speed. Vokal's agility showed on his one short pass, a screen in which he made a quick cut inside to beat a CB on the outside shoulder before dragging defenders ahead for extra yardage. Vokal is on pace for a spectacular season in what was a stellar preview for Maple Grove.

[player_tooltip player_id='1191521' first='Hudson' last='Omoke'] followed up a breakout junior season with a strong start to his senior year, finishing with 135 yards on 5 catches and a touchdown. The touchdown came on a simple slant route where he beat his man on the inside release and then sprinted past the secondary to the end zone. Omoke consistently kept a step ahead of the Irondale secondary, and his sharp route-running was on display the whole night. Omoke is one of the top unsigned players out of Minnesota remaining in the class of 2025, and if he continues playing as well as he did on Friday night, Omoke should generate plenty of attention through the season.

St. Cloud Tech's offense looks to have taken a step forward to start the season, and [player_tooltip player_id='1240284' first='Gavin' last='Gall'] played a big part in that, starting the year with 127 yards on 8 catches (T-most in the state) and 2 touchdowns. Most of Gall's catches came on inside routes (Deep in-routes, slants), and Gall did a great job with his positioning and precision on making tough catches while being wrapped up by CBs. Gall also had a brilliant 50-50 catch on a deep go-route, doing a great job of tracking the ball and making a difficult reception. Gall was effective as well as a run-blocker, and he proved well on the secondary and as the primary kicking specialist. Gall will be a stud for the St. Cloud Tech Tigers this season.

Carter Reckelberg has been renowned in Becker as a speedy and talented track athlete, and that showed on the field on Thursday when he recorded 120 yards on 4 catches and 2 touchdowns. One of his touchdowns was a 63 yarder where he beat the Safety on a corner route from the slot and burned him down the sideline to the end zone. Reckelberg's focal point on his performance was his dangerous speed, which made him reliable as a slot option to rack up yards after the catch. Reckelberg could be an explosive playmaker for Becker's offense this season.

Although the focus of Rochester Mayo's offense was their 330 combined rushing yards on Friday, one standout emerged in the passing game, Joseph Boguslawski. After having just a total 4 catches last season, Boguslawski emerged this week with 6 catches for 118 yards and a touchdown. Boguslawski accounted for over 81% of Rochester Mayo's total passing yards in the win. His touchdown came on a quick pass over the middle in which he took it and maneuvered past the secondary 59 yards to the endzone. Boguslawski was heavily involved in the offense, showing great route-running and excellent adjustments when the QB was pressured to get open and create big plays out of tough spots. Boguslawski will be a name to watch out for on the Spartans' offense this year.

North St. Paul was firing on all cylinders on Friday against St. Paul Como Park, and junior [player_tooltip player_id='348723' first='John' last='Jeanetta'] enjoyed a breakout performance on the offensive side. Jeanetta's impact has mostly came on the defense, and after finishing with just 2 catches last season, Jeanetta had 6 catches for 102 yards and 2 touchdowns in the season opener. Jeanetta proved excellent as a slot option, with most of his receptions coming off of speed outs and deep-out routes. Jeanetta runs proficiently with smooth cuts, great awareness, and is not afraid to lower the shoulder to gain extra yardage. Jeanetta's performance on the offense could help develop him into a talented athlete prospect that can make an impact on both sides of the ball by the end of the year.

John Jeanatta wasn't the only standout receiver from North St. Paul this week. Junior Duke King enjoyed a stellar start to 2024, finishing with 102 yards on 5 catches and 2 touchdowns. King had touchdown catches from 30 and 47 yards out, the latter in which he beat the CB on an inside release at the point of the target to make the catch at the goal line. King looked fluid as a route-runner, and his quick acceleration made it difficult to cover him throughout the night. King will be a great receiver for what could be one of the most proficient passing offenses in the state this season.
