Titan Stadium, home of UW- Oshkosh football and the Oshkosh HS programs, played host to a FRCC-South showdown between Menasha and Oshkosh North. Menasha entered the showdown 1-2 while Oshkosh North was 2-1. Both teams also entered 1-0 in the conference with their sights set on that key 2-0 start. Menasha was locked in, healthy overall, and ready to roll. Unfortunately for North, they came into the Thursday night battle without their leading rusher and their starting QB. However, that didn't stop them from coming out ready to battle. Dive into how the game played out and who impressed most and need to be on college recruiters' radars. Enjoy!

Game Recap

If you love defense then you would have loved watching this game. Impressive linemen recruits controlled the line of scrimmage, LBs and DBs were flying around, and defenders were getting to the ball in groups to quickly shut down plays. The first quarter came and went without a single point being scored. That was huge for Oshkosh North who was missing a big chunk of their offensive output. However, on the very first play of the 2nd quarter we watched QB/ATH [player_tooltip player_id='505573' first='Logan' last='Liegl'] take it himself from 3 yards out of the 6-0 lead. That scored seemed to open up the flood gates for Menasha. A few minutes of game time later we watched RB Elijah Gigl run over a defender in space, then race 80 yards for the score and the 12-0 lead. Menasha furthered their lead before halftime when QB [player_tooltip player_id='505573' first='Logan' last='Liegl'] again carried it up the middle. This time on 4th & 1 from the 4. He was able to power his way in for the score and the commanding 20-0 lead.

The second half saw the defenses flex their muscles again. Back and forth they went trading punches, shutting down running lanes, and getting pressure on the QBs during the few times that each QB dropped back. That game script was fine for Menasha as they worked their way towards a shutout to go with their three possession lead, and that is exactly what they got. The final whistle blew and the Menasha Bluejays went home with the 20-0 conference win and shutout.

I had high expectations for Jaydon coming into this game, but they weren't high enough. What a performance from the senior DL and Winona State commit. The long, lean edge rusher lived in the Oshkosh North backfield. He was quick off the ball, used his hands and length to create separation, and showed impressive bend to get underneath or around OTs instantly off the snap. Lanser also showed off the outstanding range once in the backfield, chasing down ball carriers and the QB from behind or blowing up plays before they could even develop. You need disruptors off the edge at the next level, and Jaydon is one of the best that WI has to offer. Big things ahead for him.

Logan stepped up in key situations for his offense as they grinned out drives on the ground. His downhill running between the tackles pushed the pile on both his scores. The senior also flashed speed to pick up the chunk plays when he found his way to green grass. The senior did have to leave in the second half with an injury he got on defense after making a tackle that showed his range to get to the line of scrimmage and make the tackle. Logan is a versatile athlete at 5'10" 200 lbs and open to playing any position at the next level. Give him a look. He is experienced and productive on offense and defense over his career.

Gigl was the engine that moved the Menasha offense up and down the field. He did it in every way too. His TD was a highlight reel 80 yard play where he hit the hole quickly, ran over a safety, then hit that second gear to get to the endzone. That quickness, both laterally and his acceleration, and power were on display all night. The senior gained the tough yards, churning his legs, keeping his balance, and not hesitating to try and make an alley if nothing was there to attack. Elijah looked comfortable being leaned on by his offense and ran just as hard in the 4th quarter as he did on fresh legs in the 1st quarter. Definitely give the imposing runner a look. He is an under the radar prospect.

Menasha's OL and DL won a ton of battles Thursday night, and the only athlete to start both ways among that group was senior Javon Haste. The 6'4" 275 lbs senior should get a look at either position, but I really liked him on the OL. The big man flashed quick feet to get into his man and a strong lower body to drive his man off the ball once engaged. Haste was a punishing blocker during the game and consistently moved the line of scrimmage downfield and opened up holes for his RB to find. On defense, that same power flashed as he controlled the line of scrimmage while finding the ball, then using strong hands to shed, then attack the ball. His quickness off the snap and ability to turn that into power led to a lot of his disruptive plays. I'm a big fan of his talents.

Another senior OL steal out of Menasha is OT [player_tooltip player_id='1394909' first='Jordan' last='Sconiers']. The massive athlete has the frame for the next level, but isn't just a big body. I was impressed with how easily Jordan was able to move in the run game. He was able to fire out of his stance and instantly drive his man upon contact. In the limited pass protection reps it was clear that the senior OT has the foot quickness to be able to mirror his rusher, use his length to gain contact and make first contact, and he was able to set a solid anchor. With his size, mobility, and base of power he can develop into a next level impact player.

This 2026 DL was new to my radar coming into this game, but he made sure he was on it by the time the game ended. Elijah was as disruptive as any DL could hope for. He collapsed the pocket with power from his compact frame. He used leverage to drive his man into the backfield and then could quickly find the ball and get off the block. The Menasha DL across the board was a nightmare matchup because they fielded so many athletes that were able to win 1 on 1 and then get to the ball. Phillips was one of the most consistent at being disruptive. It was a great day for the junior.

Our final Menasha standout is another new junior on our radars. The junior sure looks the part breaking the huddle at 6'3" 315 lbs. The Menasha trenches are some of the best in WI between their talent, depth, production, and experience. Kolin is a junior who came into the year with varsity experience under his belt. The junior OC is a force in the middle. His heavy hands quickly punch and control his opponent and that big frame plus strong lower body was driving DTs out of gaps or down the line of scrimmage away from the ball every time I focused on him. He works so effectively in those tight quarters thanks to his quickness and short area agility. This is definitely a junior IOL to keep an eye on over this next year.

The Oshkosh North offense had a hard time finding any success throughout the night, but there were still athletes who caught my attention throughout the night. One of those was junior OC Isaac Notzke. He carries an impressive 6'7" 270 lbs frame with ease. The center has next level range as he was able to pull and get outside the tackles to land blocks. Even at his size, Isaac also impressed with his flexibility as he was able to get leverage and dig his opponent out of the trenches on multiple reps. Menasha has a dominant DL, so to stand out on multiple occasions was not easy, but Isaac was able to do it.

While Menasha did hold onto the three possession lead, this Oshkosh North's defense did a great job of holding them to a shutout in three of the four quarters. A big reason behind it was junior OLB Andrew Oehler. The 6'4" 205 lbs athlete definitely has the length needed to win on the edge and a nose for the football. He led the team in tackles Thursday night. Andrew was able to hold his own against the Menasha OL and showed the range to chase down the ball.
While it wasn't a productive night for the senior athlete out of Oshkosh North, he still deserves a shout out as one of the top prospects in this game. Without his starting QB it was hard for the offense, especially the passing game to get going. So we didn't get to see much of him at WR, but at DB I was able to key in on him multiple times and the senior impressed. He was not tested much, if at all. Logan showed off that next level athleticism playing man coverage and showing the quick hips and feet needed to stick tight coverage through routes. Logan is an explosive short area athlete and he played with physicality without risking penalties. The two way senior is definitely an athlete to know in the Class of 2025.
