Friday night was both a dream and a nightmare for a bunch of Lowcountry defensive coordinators.

On one hand, you had some players putting up some “Are you serious?” types of defensive stats lines for teams that pulled off huge wins. On the other were offensive guys whose Week 2 games weren't done until they piled up some sizable rushing tallies.

Each of them - on both sides of the ball - found themselves in our Week 2 Lowcountry Game Balls.

[player_tooltip player_id='1254044' first='Kolten' last='Kellermann'] DB/WR, Philip Simmons

Kellermann has a pretty good offensive night in the Iron Horses' win over Beaufort. On that side of the ball, he put up five catches for 75 yards and three touchdowns. That was only part of his impact Friday night. On defense, Kellerman recovered three fumbles, picked off two passes and had four tackles from his safety spot. Even the most ardent of Beaufort supports had to have respected Kellermann's performance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1172361' first='Matthew' last='Ponkow'] DL, Bishop England

Ponkow had a lot to do with what equated to the Bishops' biggest win in three seasons. In the process of helping his team take down Hanahan 24-14, the sophomore hybrid had eight tackles, two sacks, four tackles for loss and a pair of forced fumbles. He's on a solid pace after two games to eclipse his gaudy freshman totals in both tackles for loss (17) and sacks (eight).

James Hurteau WR and [player_tooltip player_id='1592342' first='Connor' last='Dantzler'] QB, James Island

The Trojans picked up an impressive early win as a Class 5A team by beating Goose Creek 10-7. But until Hurteau and Dantzler linked up fora. 36-yard touchdown connection with eight seconds left, it looked like a moral victory. Instead, Dantzler's 22-of-37 effort that led to 281 yards and Hurteau's 51 receiver yards felt like even more.

[player_tooltip player_id='1249843' first='Davion' last='Kinard-Taylor'] DL, West Ashley

Cane Bay used every method possible to keep the Wildcats' senior edge rusher from having a great night and it didn't matter. Kinard-Taylor went around and through offensive linemen and other tailbacks on his way to official figures of 14 tackles and four tackles for loss. Kinard-Taylor was everywhere, even making tackles downfield in pursuit.

[player_tooltip player_id='1346277' first='Lorenzo' last='Kitching'] WR/DB/KR, North Charleston.

Kitching is turning into an absolute Swiss Army knife for the Cougars. Kitching, who had already scored offensive and special teams touchdowns prior to Friday's win against Baptist Hill, added two rushing scores and another kick return touchdown against the Bobcats. On defense, he also picked off a pair of passes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1592230' first='Sean' last='Mitchell'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1592214' first='Andrew' last='Johnson'] RBs, May River

Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='1360121' first='Tanner' last='Macy'] was at it again, picking up three more rushing touchdowns in a big win over Lake City. But it was Mitchell and Johnson who were getting most of the yards. Mitchell finished with 17 carries for 150 yards and a score. Johnson pitched in 14 carries for 112 yards and a touchdown of his own to help the Sharks stay perfect.

[player_tooltip player_id='473024' first='Ryan' last='Campbell'] RB, Fort Dorchester

Campbell put together one of his finest high school performance to date in a 26-24 win over neighboring Charleston-area Class 5A program Stratford. With 27 carries, he had 195 rushing yards and a touchdown. And his lone lost fumble was excusable because he also caught three passes, including a 55-yard touchdowns.
