During Week Four of the Kansas prep season, I scouted a United Kansas League match-up between the Leavenworth Pioneers and Shawnee Heights Thunderbirds.

Here is a look at four Pioneer prospects who performed well in a road win over Shawnee Heights.

[player_tooltip player_id='995120' first='Dakari' last='Wake'], ATH, 6'0”, 180, Leavenworth, ‘25

Wake is currently ranked No. 145 overall in the Kansas Class of 2025. He is extremely explosive on both sides of the ball. He scored an early touchdown taking a snap as a Wildcat back. He can carry the ball or lineup as a wideout. He is versatile on both sides of the ball. He had recorded 25 total tackles for the Pioneers heading into the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1260097' first='DyVair' last='McCray'], WR/DB,5'10”, 180, Leavenworth, ‘26

McCray is a speedster in the class of 2026. He has taken three game day visits to Division I schools and a Big 12 assistant coach was in attendance at the game giving him a look. He can be a weapon in all facets of the game. He has a couple of touchdowns this season as a return man. McCray has reliable hands and finishes tackles. The Leavenworth prospect is currently ranked No. 125 overall by Prep Redzone, but look for him to be in the Top 20 when the rankings are updated in October.

Brayden Bridger, QB/DB, 5'8”, 160, Leavenworth, ‘26

Bridger is an athlete who caught my eye. He is normally a wide receiver and the backup quarterback. However, the lefty started under center in this game as the Pioneers' starting quarterback missed the game due to a disciplinary issue. Bridger has a quick release and ran the offense well. I would not have known he was not the normal starter if I had not asked about him. He is currently unranked by Prep Redzone, but that will be remedied.

[player_tooltip player_id='1228930' first='John' last='Short'], OL, 6'5”, 280, Leavenworth, ‘25

Another unranked player who caught my eye was Leavenworth tackle Short. He is a big man with a long reach. He played as the left tackle on offense and right tackle on kicking plays. He moves well for his size and plays with solid pad level. He did well against a smaller defensive end from Shawnee Heights. I understand he is being looked at by multiple Division II programs.
