Class 1A Best Pass-Catcher Performances of Week 2

As we continue to look at Class 1A for this week, we take a look at the top receiving performances from week 2 that made a significant impact in the passing game and have proven that they will be top targets for their QBs this season. We found 4 WRs and 4 TEs that fit the mold as top pass-catchers in Class 1A for week 2!    AHSTW has maintained a hot start offensively this season, and QB Camden Soukup has found a confident playmaker to target in the passing game in senior Zeb Hall. After finishing with just 12 catches all of last season, Hall recorded 6 catches this week for 178 yards and 4 touchdowns in a blowout win over Riverside. Hall is a lengthy receivers with long legs, taking great strides when running, and shows to be a nimble player with solid agility. Hall has earned the confidence from his QB to be a top target in the Vikings' passing game, and the Vikings should continue to find sustained success as this connection grows.     I had mentioned [player_tooltip player_id='1466973' first='Ethan' last='Reiter'] before as a top DB prospect, but he's been the top target for QB Jackson Joerger across the first 2 games this season. Despite a losing effort in week 2 against Wapsie Valley, Reiter finished with 9 catches for 132 yards and a touchdown. He also recorded an interception and had 2 punt returns for 32 yards. Reiter showcased his quick feet and explosive speed running down the field. Reiter did a great job with making small cuts that created separation on his routes that allowed him to get open for big plays. Reiter remains a highly enticing athlete that should continue making a splash in his senior season for Denver.     Durant held off Columbus Catholic for a 12-7 win in week 2, and Colby Gast did a great job in helping the Wildcats maintain possession and prevent Columbus from getting opportunities. Gast finished the game with 6 catches for 125 yards and a touchdown, while also taking 3 carries for 26 yards. Gast did a great job creating separation on his routes throughout the night, but it was his speed that garnered the most attention, especially when he took a screen pass 45 yards to the house. After finishing with just 1 catch in week 1, Gast had his breakout game this week, and hopefully we'll continue to see big performances out of him moving forward this season.     [player_tooltip player_id='1084825' first='Logan' last='Roff'] has been growing as one of the top athletes in the recruiting class of 2026, and after making a name for himself on defense last season, Roff has been emerging as a dangerous pass-catcher on the offense as well. In a shootout win over Woodward-Granger, Roff finished with 5 catches for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns. Both of his touchdown catches came from the slot position being sent on a go-route down the middle of the field and outrunning the secondary for long touchdowns. His 4.62 40 yard speed has made him a fast playmaker on both sides of the ball, and he's proven to be agile to extend short passes into big gains on YAC. Roff will play a big part toward one of the most exciting passing offenses in Class 1A right now.     [player_tooltip player_id='1370695' first='Brayden' last='Hoben'] has bulked up to an strong 210 lbs this offseason, and his increased mass has helped make him a more dangerous pass-catcher. In week 2, Hoben finished with 7 catches for 114 yards and a touchdown. Hoben has a bulky upper frame, and he was lined out wide a lot during the game, which made him a significant mismatch against smaller DBs as well as the LBs covering him. Hoben showed great acceleration and deep, well-timed releases on his routes. Hoben is a WR in a TE's body, and he will remain as one of the most exciting pass-catching TEs in the state over the next 2 seasons.     Aiden Hosch is a team captain for Columbus Catholic, and he's been an outstanding two-way player starting at TE and DE for the Sailors. In week 2 against Durant, Hosch finished with 8 catches for 147 yards and a touchdown. Hosch has a leaner frame for a TE, and his route-running is as sharp as any WR. Hosch was the main player advancing the offense on Friday night in a game that was riddled with mistakes on the offense. Hosch will continue to be the premium target of the passing offense for the Sailors this season.     Cole Graham has emerged as the starting TE this season for Shenandoah, and through two weeks has made a name for himself as a reliable weapon in the passing game. In a shootout game against West Central Valley, Graham finished with 8 catches for 136 yards and 2 touchdowns. Graham showed good hands on Friday night, and he has sneaky acceleration, which showed on a 60 yard touchdown he had during the game. Graham has time to continue growing into size, but he should be on the radar as a rising TE prospect in the state this season.     Nathan Schockemoehl was the Cougars' leading receiver last season, and after a slow start to the season, Schockemoehl has quickly resumed his role as a possession pass-catcher. Against Hudson, Schockemoehl finished with a team high 8 catches for 80 yards. Schockemoehl was mostly lined off the line in a spread offense, and he possesses solid frame to be a mismatch against LBs and DBs. Schockemoehl is a solid route runner, and Cascade has done a good job designing routes to get him the ball as much as they can. Schockemoehl will remain as the Cougars' top receiver through 2024.
