Hope Mills, NC | It's been a long time since all 3 programs have had a winning record heading into their conference play. This year all 3 schools are 2-1 and ready to compete in the strong United 8 conference. Although each school has the same record, they got their differently. Grays Creek started off 2-0 before they suffered their first loss of the year to Pine Forest. South View lost their first game of the season to Overhills, while Jack Britt won their first and last games but lost their second game against East Forsyth. Despite the team's success, they find themselves in a 3-way tie for 2nd because Lumberton, Cape Fear, and Seventy-First are all undefeated. I've covered Gray's Creek and South View twice already this season (Jamboree and the Make Up Saturday games). Both teams won their games, and a lot of athletes stood out with some incredible performances. I'll see Jack Britt a little later on in the season but I'm very familiar with the program, (c/o 02) I'm going to highlight some of the top players from each of team.

Caraway has the prototypical size and speed of Linebackers at the college level. He plays middle LB for the Bears, but I can easily see him on the edge. Kaleb also plays TE and scored 2 TDs during the game I covered a couple weeks back. He has great versatility and also a great leader. Can't miss college prospect

Ezekiel is having a phenomenal start to his junior year. The 6'4 200lb ATH already has 9 TDs in 3 games so far! Zeek size is the first thing that you notice but not far behind that is his straight-line speed. The Jr. can score from anywhere on the field as he even returns kicks. (Returned a kick for a TD but was called back at the game I covered). Truly a hidden gem, another can't miss college prospect, but Reed has an off-season to really put himself on the national stage. The Jr has the elite Power 4 measurables that any program would love to have.

The new QB1 for Jack Britt, Gavin Stokes has arrived! The Jr waited patiently for his opportunity and has not wasted it at all. 1st game of the year he went 13-20 172 yards and 2 touchdowns and had 60 yards on the ground! Stokes scored 2 and the deciding TD last week on the ground in a 21-20 win over Scotland County. His versatility is what is so different about the traditional QBs from the past at Britt.
