910 Recap || Cape Fear vs Terry Sanford

Fayetteville, N.C. | This version of the "Battle of the Blues" had a little more meaning for both teams this year. The annual marque match up started with the unveiling of Terry Sanford's brand new Jumbotron along with the retiring jerseys of a couple of former Bulldogs. The game wasn't as exciting as hoped, Cape Fear won the game 31-7 but both teams played hard and had a lot of future college athletes.    The Jr was in complete control of the game from the first quarter. Geronimo never looked rattled when the game was still close and his offense fed off of his energy. Sanchez really stood out on 3rd downs, running or throwing but mainly making the right decision whenever his team needed it .     King is a true definition of a 3 down back. He can run routes out the backfield, stay in and block, and run between the tackles. If you let him get to the outside, he can take it the distance. A true recruiting gem, any college at any level would love to have King on their roster. I expect for his recruiting to spike in the next few weeks.      Explosive!!! Tai has elite play making ability, the kind that you don't see too often. He only touched the ball (from my count) 6 times and 3 of them were touchdowns. ( 2 called back) He has the build and speed of a WR but toughness and agility of a running back. Philips only being a sophomore, its scary where his ability can take him. Power 4 Division 1 cant miss     Charles is a wildcard as far as recruitment goes. His physical presence shows up just about on every snap while he's on defense, doesn't matter if he makes the play or not. Charles can be equally as effective on offense as well, blocking and occasionally catching passes and running after the catch. I can see the senior ATH playing either positions at the next level.     Damien Gary is one of the hardest hitting secondary players in the entire region. Gary lead his Colts to holding a high powered Terry Sanford offense, who avg 40+ppg to just 7 points. The senior also made a couple big hits on running backs and receivers that left the crowd in amazement. Another hidden gem as far as recruitment goes.     "K3" is another hard hitting DB for the Colts. Faison is a natural ballhawk with high energy and playmaking ability. The senior has always been a big talker and has been backing it up in this short season. Kamari got an interception in the game Friday night in man coverage but it was whipped away for a penalty.     Leonard was all over the field Friday night. He primarily plays outside but during the game you would see #24 anywhere the ball is. I saw him during the jamboree and he was very impressive and I was equally as impressed Friday night. The jr is big and strong enough to take on blocks, but he also has the ability to chase down quick backs.     The Jr showed elite speed and agility at the edge position all night long. He was able to Dip and Bend around any tackle that was in front of him. Logan was also able to chase down smoke screens plus get sacks on very quick QB. Unsung hero of the game, Logan has next level ability for sure.     Browning is another can't miss next level athlete. 6'1 at corner is elite within itself but he's speed and awareness makes him difference maker on defensive side of the ball.     Gaven was one of the brightest spots for the Bulldogs Friday night. He was on several tackles and scored Terry Sanford's only TD. Kraut has elite size at his position and elite ability. The Jr. also showed up in the run game, making several tackles on those Cape Fear backs     Christian has great speed and play making ability. Carter is a two way athlete, primarily playing on the numbers (WR/DB) The Jr. having WR hands and playing DB makes him a huge threat even while on the defensive side of the ball.     Izaiah is another one of those "jack of all trades" he will line up press man, box safety, slot WR to even running back. Williams now in his Jr. season has taken even a larger role on his team as they look to him for leadership. The Jr. has the ability to play at the next level, at whatever position he they school wants him at.     The QB was named city Player of the Week during week 2 with his 5 TD performance. Moore also had 5 TDs in the first week. The Jr. had a rough out this week but he never gave up during the game. This is Jacob's first year starting and has the talent to keep his team in every game they play this year. True dual threat Quarterback     Terry Sanford has found their running back for the now and future! O'Keefe is only a freshman, but shows dynamic ability. Shifty, quick as a hiccup and durable, I look forward to following his career to see where he lands!
