2027 Rankings Update: Running Backs Breakdown

We have officially released another rankings update in Arkansas for the class of 2027. In this article, we will showcase the 2027 running backs with analysis. Over the next month, I will break down these rankings by position in each class, including other segments. For the running backs, I will provide you with evaluations of some of the top prospects and the players flying under the radar:     [player_tooltip player_id='1195565' first='Isaiah' last='Stephens'] is on his own level, coming in at number one on our board. Stephens is an elusive running back with very good athletic ability due to very good foot speed, foot quickness, balance, explosiveness, good lateral agility, and COD. Stephens displays good post-snap vision to read first- and second-level defenders due to good vision to identify his run lane on Zone runs with good mental processing and patience to follow the lead blocker on inside Gap runs. His lateral agility and balance make him a multi-cut running back who can plant and accelerate upfield quickly, bursting through the crease to the second level. Stephens' breakaway speed at the second level is impressive. Strong hands with good hand-eye coordination that make him a threat in the receiving game. His ability to outmaneuver linebackers with fluid route running is notable. He's hard to adjust to and scheme for each week. Noble displays good post-snap vision to locate the running lane quickly, with a very good burst to accelerate and separate from the first level. Has good patience behind the LOS to follow blockers. Multi-cut ability, with good acceleration and speed to break away from the second level after making the first initial cut. He has good COD and vision and can locate cutback lanes quickly and create to get upfield. Good balance to withstand contact with active feet, good leg drive, and lower body power to break tackles and gain additional yards. He will hurt you in the receiving game as well, out of the backfield or lining up out wide. Smooth route runner who can create separation off breaks due to his COD, good foot quickness, and burst. Walker is a physical north and south running back who has the foot speed to beat defenders to the sideline and get upfield. He has good balance and body control, which allow him to absorb contact and gain positive yardage with impressive leg drive. Walker displays a quick first step, bursting through tackles, coupled with good vision for identifying running lanes. He shows patience behind the line of scrimmage, following his blockers. He's versatile, as he can become a dominant and hard-to-stop running back out of the receiving game. Keep an eye on Walker throughout 2024. Hawkins is a patient runner with good vision to follow blockers on zone and gap runs. He is also a fluid runner, as he displays good lateral agility and the ability to break through the second level with good acceleration and burst. He can easily make defenders miss in space, making himself someone to keep an eye on throughout his HS career. Harris Jr. displays solid vision post-snap to locate the running lane and get upfield quickly with a solid burst. He's able to make defenders miss due to his good lateral agility, COD, and burst to get upfield. He also has good contact balance, leg drive, and lower body strength to withstand contact and break tackles. The young prospect is someone to watch.
