ROEBUCK | It just Means more.

It did Friday night, at least.

[player_tooltip player_id='1664350' first='Nick' last='Means'] rushed for 122 yards on 13 carries, scored three times, and helped lead Dorman to a 42-35 victory over Greenville.

He didn't have a single carry any bigger than the last one.

Facing a first and 19 following a penalty with just over a minute left and trailing 35-34, Means bounced a carry outside and scored his third touchdown of the night. Dorman converted a two-point conversion for a seven-point lead, and held on for the win.

"I had to do it for my team," Means said. "I had to put my team on my back, and I was there when they needed me."

Means did plenty besides his late heroics. He started the scoring with a 54-yard dash straight through the heart of Greenville's defense, He scored again from two yards out to break a 7-7 tie. And he was the leader of a resurgent Dorman ground game that chewed up 202 yards on the ground and averaged more than six yards per carry.

"I'm proud as heck of the offensive line," Morris said. "We're down two starters, and lost a third during the game. Those guys rallied. And we've got a three-headed monster in the backfield with Nick, Enahjay Fowler, and Ruben Landrum, and all three did a good job."

Dorman's offense was better all around, as new Offensive Coordinator Rodney Mooney's scheme looked good on the first night out. Dorman played a pair of QBs in [player_tooltip player_id='1308084' first='Brice' last='O'Neal'] and Makorean Anderson, and both played well. O'Neal threw for 120 yards on 9-for-11 passing, and rushed for 37 yards and a touchdown. Anderson threw for 54 yards, hit Chase Cheeks for a 24-yard score, and turned in the game's biggest play. With O'Neal forced from the game on a hit that dislodged his helmet and drew an unsportsmanlike penalty on the Dorman sideline, Anderson came in facing 4th-and-17 with time running out. He calmly found Cheeks again, for 24 yards again, picking up a first down that kept the Cavaliers in it and set up Means' heroics.

"When Brice goes down, when the offense comes back out with a sophomore at quarterback and responds, that's big. That's toughness you cant coach right there."

DOING IT WITH DEFENSE

Dorman's defense was forced into some tough situations, and was on the field for the bulk of the third quarter, but they played well when it mattered. [player_tooltip player_id='1316823' first='Dru' last='Darby'] led the way with 14 tackles, with [player_tooltip player_id='402497' first='Kentavion' last='Anderson'] adding nine. [player_tooltip player_id='1348503' first='Dashaun' last='Robinson'] had three tackles, two tackles for loss, a QB hurry, a pass deflection, and the game-sealing interception.

The Cavaliers got a huge goal-line stand in the first half, had four tackles for loss, and forced two fumbles in the last two minutes of the first half, both of which led to touchdowns.

After Dorman failed to take advantage of a stop and turned the ball back over on a three-and-out, Micah Savage forced a fumble on the Red Raiders' first play from scrimmage, leading to Anderson's TD toss to Cheeks.

The Cavaliers got the ball right ack on Greenville's next drive. This time, [player_tooltip player_id='1402705' first='Braeden' last='Gravley'] pounced on the loose ball to put Dorman in business at the Greenville 26. Dorman used six plays and most of the rest of the quarter to score, with O'Neal doing the honors on a keeper from four yards out and a 28-7 halftime lead.

Greenville returned the favor in the third quarter, with a pair of quick turnovers leading to 14 points that allowed them to close the gap to 34-28. Messiah Butler picked off O'Neal to set up a 30-yard scoring drive for Greenville, while Greenville forced a fumble on Dorman's next drive, leading to another score.

[player_tooltip player_id='809748' first='Jair' last='Simmons'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1592587' first='CJ' last='Williams'] had seven tackles each for Greenville, while [player_tooltip player_id='1592567' first='Bradley' last='Lucas'] had six.

BIG NIGHT FOR BOUTON

Greenville had a chance to win largely thanks to [player_tooltip player_id='1403906' first='Banks' last='Bouton']. The junior QB was exceptional for the Red Raiders, throwing for 209 yards and a touchdown, rushing for 108 yards and three more scores, and catching one pass for 12 yards. He was never sacked, and extended plays with his legs a number of times. He got off a throw under heavy pressure on Greenville's last drive, finding Dre'Shaun Smith on the Dorman sideline. Smith made a great move to get loose, and gave the Red Raiders a chance at the end.
