PRZA Team Preview, West Mifflin Part 2

<p>Here's part two of my preview of the West Mifflin Titans football squad, featuring six more names to watch for in the upcoming 2024 season. Two of these prospects are upperclassmen, while the other four are underclassmen who show great promise. All of these athletes are eager to contribute to the strengths of the Titans football team. West Mifflin is poised for another formidable season in 2024. Although they graduated two scholarship-level players—Rico Steele, who signed with Bowling Green, and Braeden Walker, who signed with IUP—they return a wealth of talent. Under the leadership of Head Coach Rod Steele, the Titans posted an impressive 5-1 conference record in 2023, finishing second in their league with an overall record of 7-5. With a strong mix of Division I veteran talent, experienced lettermen, and promising underclassmen, the Titans aim to make a deeper playoff run this year. They will also be looking to avenge regular-season losses from 2023 against tough opponents McKeesport, Elizabeth Forward, Thomas Jefferson, and Avonworth. He gained valuable playing experience as a freshman, which will benefit his growth. Robinson is promising because he's active and not afraid to hit. He's quick to trigger in run support and moves well laterally. Landon consistently completes his assignments, particularly when rerouting wide receivers on passing plays. He also runs downfield aggressively on kickoff coverage, always looking to make a play. I expect him to once again contribute on special teams and take strides forward as an outside and middle linebacker on defense. Offensively, Robinson displays agility and pass-catching ability at the wide receiver position, and I expect him to showcase his catch-and-run skills on offense in 2024.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/cambobo_/status/1793442094880608748?s=46&t=Z9HVsIfxlYpUmBtFJHGC4g </div></figure>   <p>Bobo is another underclassman to watch as he continues to progress. Standing at 6'3", he displays impressive athleticism on the football field. I believe there's a strong possibility that Bobo will compete for playing time at both quarterback and defensive back. With a recorded 11.5 seconds in the 100 meters, he has the speed to excel. As a multi-sport athlete who also plays basketball, his skills should translate well to the football field in 2024. Bobo is a quarterback with the mobility to extend plays in the pocket and a strong enough arm to complete downfield throws. I'm intrigued to see if his athletic ability will also translate to the defensive side of the ball at defensive back.</p>       <p>As mentioned before, West Mifflin boasts a plethora of offensive and defensive weapons. Two key offensive linemen who will help clear running lanes for the backfield are [player_tooltip player_id='1591985' first='Dylan' last='Schofield'] and Carmelo Yardbough. Carmelo, the new starting center, has shown great potential for the Titans in the offseason. He has a big frame and is an athletic lineman who also plays basketball. Schofield, a junior, is expected to take on an elevated role in the offense, blocking for backs like [player_tooltip player_id='914053' first='Armand' last='Hill'] and [player_tooltip player_id='916966' first='Richie' last='Fix']. Depth is crucial to a quality team, and [player_tooltip player_id='1647876' first='Michael' last='Burrows'] and Devin Brown will provide that depth. Both are underclassmen with potential, competing at the fullback and linebacker positions. After a 7-5 record in 2023, it will take competition from underclassmen like these two for the Titans to fully realize their potential. While improving on a 5-1 conference record will be challenging, West Mifflin certainly has the potential to do so.</p>
