Players You Need to Know Heading into the Season

We have worked hard this summer at Prep Redzone Virginia to give you names of players to watch this fall, and we will continue our coverage through the season. He can align in Press, Soft, and Off Coverage. He has quick hands to strike the WR at the LOS to bump him off his route and displays the speed, quickness, and COD to keep tight man coverage. Displays good Zone processing in coverage, reading the eyes of the QB, with good downhill speed to attack the ball when thrown with his good ball skills. He is a willing tackler and has no issues taking on blockers to stop the run. He displays very good strength which shows throughout his play. He comes off the ball with solid upfield burst and displays strong hands to engage offensive linemen to keep them off his chest and keeps a very strong base to hold his ground. He is good against the run, shedding his block and making a tackle in his gap, and has good lateral agility on the backside to chase down ball carriers. He has solid height of 5'10" and has room to add mass to his frame. He is a smart runner with good vision who takes what the defense gives him, not putting his team in negative situations. The balance he runs with sticks out to me early in his film as he consistently runs through contact and keeps his feet. He also has quick feet and very good short-area quickness to make slight cuts in the second and third levels to force missed tackles. In 7 games last season, he had 108 rushing attempts for 842 yards, averaging 7.8 yards per carry, and 14 total TDs. Versatile to play all five offensive line positions and I would not be shocked if he does play all five over the next few seasons at LCA. He excels in both Gap and Zone blocks, utilizing good footwork and technique to fit the block, and displays good strength to sustain and drive the defender. He did receive some varsity reps as a freshman and has a bright future at LCA. He displays very good strength and can eat up the middle of the line as a run-stopper, proving to be a mismatch to most IOLs he will face due to his size and strength. He has a very good comparative motor and plays through the whistle in his film.
