With Week 1 in the books and Week 2 gearing up let's turn our focus back to the 2025 Rankings Update that went live last week. We added over 110 athletes to the rankings and many of them still need their time in the spotlight to ensure that more people and recruiting departments have them on their radar. These athletes are off to a great start in 2024 and putting themselves in position to become big risers during the postseason update. Let's dig into the new names and faces.

It seems like every few years there's an impressive recruit that comes out of Almond- Bancroft. The newest one is TE/LB [player_tooltip player_id='1380133' first='Ayden' last='Phillips']. The 6'7" 225 lbs athlete moves easily around the field as he carries that massive frame. A frame that gives him a huge advantage in the receiving game where he is able to box out or use his length to give his QB reliable separation to target. Ayden also uses that length to get off blocks as a blitzer. The senior has an effective first step that gets him success on blitzes too. The big man flashes plenty of speed to stretch the field too and aggressively goes up and gets the ball at the high point. Check out his junior film and stay tuned in for any new film coming out on the impressive athlete.

One of the top new names at QB in WI is one of my favorite finds from the offseason. Alex is a big, strong, athletic signal caller who brings a legitimate dual threat to the field. The 6'5" 205 lbs athlete has 4.7 speed and with that frame could even have a future at other positions along with QB. That versatility would be huge for a college staff. On tape Alex is a gamer. He does what it takes to make plays for his team. Throwing on the run, off his back foot, or from awkward positions and he has the arm strength to get the ball where he needs it without getting his full body behind the ball. When he is able to stand tall in the pocket Alex delivers strikes with consistently accurate ball placement. On the run Alex looks like a TE running with power and decisiveness, gaining yards through contact and showing the long strides when he gets out in space. Check out the steal from Northern WI.

The Janesville Parker safety is one of my favorite southern WI hidden gems. Douglas put himself on our radar during summer camps showing impressive, explosive athleticism. It had us excited to see some senior action and Week 1 film is here. The senior proved to be a reliable tackler in space. He does a good job of reading the field and trusts his speed to give him the range to make plays on the ball while going from center field to the sideline. Douglas also shows that he can change direction and recover with his speed. Don't sleep on this senior DB.

One of the top new names at DB is Tremper's [player_tooltip player_id='1316496' first='Amarel' last='Daniel']. I'm excited to see some senior tape because the junior tape is fun to watch. Amarel has the quick twitch athleticism to change direction and instantly burst to top speed to close on the ball. He aggressively attacks the ball in the air to break up passes or make INTs. The 2025 has the speed and reactive athleticism to run right in his man's pocket as they go through routes. Amarel's balance and body control make it so easy for him to fly around the field, start/stop on a dime, and change direction. Daniel looks like he is in position to become one of the biggest risers at the end of this season.

An athlete who was flying under my radar, but won't be anymore is Waukesha North's [player_tooltip player_id='1251524' first='Jason' last='Webster']. Jason delivered a huge junior year where he led the Classic 8 conference in receiving yards and receptions while also playing DB on defense. It is clear that Jason has next level speed. He closes on DBs off the line and then either lets that speed do the work going deep or we see the impressive balance to run razor sharp routes to create separation. That same speed shows up at safety along with doing a great job of reading the QB and baiting them into bad throws. Jason does a great job of tracking the ball and adjusting to the flight of it so he is in position to have the best chance at securing the ball. I'm excited for his encore of last year's performance.

In just his third year playing football, the 6'4" 270 lbs center is looking like a natural. Against a very talented Bay Port defense, Blake stepped up and put out a great week of tape. The senior plays with a wide, stout base. The hands are active and constantly resetting to maintain good positioning on his man. Blake did a great job of taking on a nose guard, getting off a quick snap and instantly engaging. The anchor strength is apparent in pass protection, giving his QB a safe pocket to step up into. The lateral movement to mirror DTs/NGs stands out on tape too. Don't miss out on this dude along the interior. He is off to a great start this season.

We wrap things up with safety [player_tooltip player_id='1380158' first='Zach' last='Germain']. The 6'3" 200 lbs senior safety is another northern WI gem that more people need to know about. The off coverage corner does a great job of keeping things in front of him and has the athleticism to turn and run deep or trigger downhill on underneath routes. He has the closing speed to arrive with the ball and disrupt the catch. The senior does a great job reading the QB in zone coverage as well and knows right when to attack. Zach has a lot of the traits you look for in a safety, so a position change at the next level could be in store. Keep an eye out for his senior film.
