The Friday night lights were on this week as teams took part in jamboree match-ups across the state of Alabama. In typical pre-season fashion, there were plenty of bobbled snaps and penalty flags throughout the games. Just hearing the cheers and the bands put everyone back into football mode as the 2024 regular season is days away. In spite of the miscues, several players served notice that they are ready for a breakout season.

Tyler Boyd set the tone early on both sides of the ball on Friday night. Staring the game at safety, Boyd drilled the intended receiver on the first play of the game, separating him from the football and showed that he was ready to be physical. Offensively, he was the recipient of the first pass and quickly eluded 4 defenders for a nice gain. Boyd showed throughout the night that he has incredible hands and is a problem with the ball in his hands. Look for Boyd to be an exciting playmaker this fall from his slot and safety positions.

The South Carolina commit disrupted the Oak Mountain offense throughout the night. Britt posted double-digit tackles for loss including 3 sacks for the Oxford defense. As one of the top linebackers in the country, Britt's motor and quickness make him a nightmare for offensive linemen. He looks to be even better than his stellar 2023 season. Britt tallied 107 tackles and 20 tackles for loss during his sophomore campaign. He also had 8 sacks and 20 quarterback hits last fall.

Heading into his final season at Brooks, Garrett Burrough is a true dual-threat quarterback that leads the Lions' offense. Last season, he accounted for more than 3500 yards and 39 touchdowns. Friday night, Burrough picked up right where he left off. Playing only in the first half, the senior completed 9 of 12 passes for 155 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He also rushed 5 times for another 39 yards and a score. With Burrough in charge, the Brooks offense could be dynamic.

The story at Priceville is "transition" as the Bulldogs jump from Class 4A to 5A. QB [player_tooltip player_id='1301131' first='Sheldon' last='Graham'] is also transitioning from Class 7A Bob Jones to the Priceville program. If his first performance is any indication, the change is going quite well. Graham passed for over 200 yards and 2 touchdowns with his new teammates as the Bulldogs took down Sardis 31-21. Graham has a high football IQ and should enjoy a breakout junior season.

High school football players are known to enjoy a late night run for breakfast following a game. [player_tooltip player_id='1144447' first='Michael' last='Price'] had all of his pancakes earlier in the evening after a dominating performance for the Huntsville Panthers. The 6'5" 270 pound lineman is expected to lead the way for the offense throughout the fall. Price had several great camps this summer and gained plenty of interest. As the season progresses, expect his recruiting to heat up.
