Despite the bad weather that swept through the state, forcing most games to be postponed until today, we were fortunate to catch one of the few games that went on as scheduled, and it turned out to be a great game! Mooresville jumped out to a 20-0 lead, but Terre Haute North staged an incredible comeback, ultimately winning 36-32.

Wetzel is in his second year starting for THNV and he's not only made progress from last year, but he showed a lot of composure last night. They fell behind 20-0 fairly quickly and he never flinched. He remained confident and kept the offense on track when they needed it most. He made important throws on big downs for conversions when they needed them.

Last season White broke out for North Vigo and became their workhorse back. He not only proved to be fairly dynamic, but he can handle a big workload and did it again last night. He's got a nice build and can break tackles without losing much speed. He had a few long runs last night, but one that stood out showcased his ability to break tackles, get to the edge, and churn out tough yards. He dove for one first down and I appreciated the fact that every down was the most important one for him.

McDonald's leadership was needed more than ever last night. Falling behind 20-0 to start the game is less than ideal. The defense made adjustments and never looked back. McDonald was all over the field and found the ball down after down. He made a few tackles right in the hole and didn't miss an opportunity to go for the ball. The first few drives for Mooresville looked like it was about to be a long night for THNV last night, but because of the leadership from guys like McDonald, they turned it into one of the best games in recent memory.

Bennett is a guy that I think will make a name for himself very soon if he's not already. He's a junior, but this is his 3rd year starting on Varsity and his second year starting on both sides of the ball. It's clear he spends a lot of time in the weight room and he's fairly well-built which is why he can handle so much work. Even last night, he was all over the field and seemed like he never got tired. Some players remind me of the Energizer Bunny and Bennett is one of those few.

Cruz is one of my favorite quarterbacks in the 2026 class, and when he's on fire, he's hard to slow down. He started the night hot and took the offense right down the field, hitting Bruhn for a TD. Cruz also had a few deep balls that were right on target and hit his target in stride. While THN staged the big comeback, it doesn't take away from Cruz's performance.

Bruhn has quietly had a steady and productive career and was so again last night. He caught the first TD of the night on the first drive. He made a great fingertip catch where he laid out and just barely had the length to reach the ball. He then had a long reception that I'm sure he's still mad he didn't score on. He was brought down on at the 1-yard line. He knows how to get open and is reliable, which always has it's value.
