With a group of newcomers as large as the one from this August update; we'll be breaking the coverage up into three parts. Part I was just a glimpse at a few of the Kansas City area prospects that cracked the rankings. This second part will be a bit of a deeper dive. Here's an introduction to six more newcomers from the metro.

[player_tooltip player_id='1398093' first='Carson' last='Wells'] - Blue Valley NW, 6'5”, 220

The first prospect we'll be looking at is [player_tooltip player_id='1398093' first='Carson' last='Wells'] of Blue Valley Northwest. Wells made his debut at No. 442 and is the 52nd ranked offensive lineman in the class. Blue Valley Northwest has a strong roster heading into the season, but Wells is a player that hasn't been mentioned enough. While he primarily holds down right tackle for the Huskies, the 6-foot-5, 220-pound prospect has the ideal frame for a defensive end and tight end as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1398096' first='Luke' last='Dent'] - Shawnee Mission NW, 6'4”, 275

Coming in 11 spots behind Wells is [player_tooltip player_id='1398096' first='Luke' last='Dent'] of Shawnee Mission Northwest. The SMNW product joined fellow Cougar offensive linemen Jacob O'Donnell in the rankings, as he debuted at No. 453 and is the 56th ranked offensive lineman in the class. Dent is a stout interior lineman that is capable of filling in at tackle. The Cougars' offense should be in good shape with Dent and O'Donnell manning the front lines.

[player_tooltip player_id='1366492' first='Aiden' last='Lehr'] - Mill Valley, 6'3”, 245

This next lineman had quite the offseason, and is a prospect on the rise heading into his senior campaign. [player_tooltip player_id='1366492' first='Aiden' last='Lehr'] of Mill Valley came in as the 61st ranked offensive lineman in the class and the 472nd ranked prospect overall. The 6-foot-3, 245-pound prospect shined at multiple camps over the summer, and as a result he's landed on the radar of multiple D-II and NAIA programs.

[player_tooltip player_id='1398080' first='Lawson' last='Brungardt'] - Free State, 6'3”, 280

The final offensive lineman from this group of four is [player_tooltip player_id='1398080' first='Lawson' last='Brungardt']. It may not be absurd to say that Lawrence Free State will have one of the top offensive lines in Class 6A this season. There's a few of their linemen that we've previously featured, and now it's Brungardt's turn. He checked in at No. 473 and is the 62nd ranked player at his position. Brungardt has the potential to be an All-League caliber player this season.

Defensive Back

[player_tooltip player_id='1324149' first='Christian' last='Jarrett'] - Eudora, 5'11”, 165

[player_tooltip player_id='1324149' first='Christian' last='Jarrett'] was one of a handful of defensive backs that cracked the rankings in this August update. Jarrett debuted just inside the Top 500 at No. 491 and is the 50th ranked defensive back in the class. He's an athletic corner that's reported 40-yard dash times in the 4.4 range and has an explosive vertical to go along with his blazing speed. The Eudora product should be a candidate for All-Frontier League honors once again during the ‘24 campaign.

Athlete

[player_tooltip player_id='1343587' first='Jaylen' last='Parks'] - Lawrence, 6'0”, 185

To end this report we take a look at a Class 6A prospect gearing up for a bounce back year. [player_tooltip player_id='1343587' first='Jaylen' last='Parks']' junior season was limited to just four games due to injury, but his play Weeks 7 through 10 looked promising. Lawrence's coaching staff likes to move him around in the secondary to maximize his playmaking ability, and he should have a role at receiver this season as well. For now he's the 502nd ranked prospect overall, but he's likely to move up during the mid-season update.
