Breakout South Georgia 7A Backs To Know

Jordan Hardy- Camden County

An electric back with outstanding straight-line speed, Hardy is a speedy back who knows how to take correct angles and out-run defenders for a long gain. At 5-foot-10 170-pounds, Hardy brings enough size to break tackles physically, but his speed and overall quickness stand out the most on film. He's coming off a strong junior season for the Wildcats last year, running for 783 yards and six touchdowns. He's a back with big-play ability who should see plenty of carries come his way with Camden County looking for a new leading rusher. His versatility and dependable hands should give him an opportunity to make plays as a pass-catcher as well.

Joshua Ulrich-Troup - Richmond Hill

A strong, elusive back who can make defenders miss early in the backfield, this powerful 6-foot-0 200-pounder is one of the more underrated backs in the Savannah area. A back who runs behind his pads, he can pick up big yards after initial contact and has the potential to have a big senior season. As a junior in 2023, Ulrich-Troupe ran for 799 yards and four touchdowns. He was the team's leading rusher last season and should be only better this upcoming final season.

[player_tooltip player_id='489529' first='Deron' last='Foster'] - Valdosta

One of the more productive freshman backs across the state last year, Foster has a chance to really jump onto the recruiting scene and have a true "breakout" sophomore season for the Wildcats this upcoming season. As a freshman, Foster was one of the best backs in the area, rushing for 912 yards and 12 touchdowns. Valdosta will reply on him even more in the run game this fall and has a chance to be one of the leading rushers in 7A this year as a sophomore. He rushed for at least 80 yards in each of his final eight games last year and should be able to light up the stat sheet again in 2024.

Aalim Brown - Lowndes

A tough, tackle-breaking back who runs with authority, Brown also brings a level of speed and elusiveness to his game. He showed a lot of promise last year as a junior when he ran for 468 yards and four touchdowns. The Vikings will need a new leading rusher in 2024, ad Brown has the potential to have a big senior season and possible lead them back to a deep playoff run. He's a willing runner who runs with balance and can keep the chains moving, and if he's been working hard this off-season, he could have a possible "breakout" type of senior season this year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1186938' first='Ramsey' last='Dennis'] - Colquitt County

A shifty back out of Colquitt County, Dennis is already known quite well in South Georgia, but he has the potential to break 1,000+ yards this upcoming season as a senior. Sharing the load at running back last year, Dennis is able to come in fresh and run hard when given a chance to make plays. He rushed for a team-leading 982 yards and 14 touchdowns in 12 games last year, and has a chance to earn All-Region honors this fall with a giant senior season. He brings breakaway speed and the ability to score any time he has the ball. Look for the 5-foot-10 175-pounder to see some possible college interest to come his way this off-season.

Day'Shawn Brown – Colquitt County

One of the more underrated backs across 7A heading into the 2024 season, Brown was a reliable option out of the backfield last year, rushing for an impressive 976 yards and 14 touchdowns. He was a weapon all year along as he helped carry the load for one of the top programs across South Georgia. He may not have ideal size, but he runs hard, slips through tackles, and ran hard on every attempt. When given the opportunity to stand out and carry the load, Brown did his job, rushing for at least 100 yards in four games last year. A threat around the goal-line, Brown found the endzone in every game but three. Look for him to be even better in his final season for the Packers this fall.
