Prep Redzone takes a look at 5 WR's from around the State that had a breakout 1st Week on the stat sheet.

[player_tooltip player_id='1561391' first='Eli' last='Lewis'] - 2025 WR - Valdosta

The 5'8 150 WR/KR was efficient in the Wildcats 65-19 opening week win over Tucker. He hauled in 6 catches for 126 yards and scored 3 TDs, averaging over 20 yards per catch. Lewis was a 2nd Team All Region selection last season after recording 20 catches for 320 yards and 2 TDs. Good possession receiver that is not afraid to catch the ball anywhere on field. He has the shiftiness and speed to pick up yards after the catch. He should get plenty of opportunities this season in a Valdosta offense that features one the top QBs in the State, [player_tooltip player_id='1305392' first='Todd' last='Robinson'].

Cody Bryan - 2026 WR/DB - Heritage (Catoosa)

Bryan had a career game in Heritage's opening 42-17 win over Christian Heritage Week 1. Bryan had 10 receptions for 257 yards with 3 receiving TDs. He added a 4th TD on a strip fumble return. The multisport player has speed and gets it done in the weight room where he has a 250 PC max and a 405 squat max. A new name for us here at Prep Redzone this Fall and we look forward to following him going forward in 2024.

Travis Smith - 2025 WR - Westlake

The 4-star University of Tennessee commit showed why he is the #2 ranked WR in the Prep Redzone Top 100. The 6'4 200 WR had 9 receptions for 267 yards with 2 TDs in their opening game verse Langston Hughes. Smith is long and athletic and has the physicality to out muscle DBs on 50/50 balls and could challenge the 2000 yard receiving mark this season. He is an outstanding route runner and an elite downfield playmaker. Volunteer fans should look forward to seeing this guy in Knoxville next Fall.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552042' first='Kendall' last='Sims'] - 2025 ATH - Schley County

Sims has been on our radar at Prep Rezone this offseason. The 4-year varsity starter has the high football IQ and the athleticism to go along with it. A 2-way starter that rarely leaves the field on Friday night. He plays a lot bigger than his listed height of 5'9, often out muscling or out jumping DBs to make the reception. Sims was the States reception leader Week 1 pulling down 11 catches for 123 yards with 2 TDs. Multi facet athlete that can line up at any of the skill positions on either side of the ball. Developed in a great program at Schley County and deserves some looks at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id='1566859' first='Colby' last='Alexander'] - 2025 WR - Archer

Alexander may be the best kept WR secret in this recruiting cycle. He is a 4x track and field All American with a legit 4.41 40 yard time. He named 2nd Team All Region last year at WR after only playing in the teams last 5 games due to an early season injury. Had a good opening Week with 8 catches for 143 yards and a TD verse a highly ranked North Cobb squad. The 5'8 Senior has good hands and would make a excellent slot receiver at the next level, especially with his elite speed. Even with his limited action last Fall, Bucknell extended an offer early this Spring, recognizing his potential. If he stays healthy this season, Alexander has the chance to be the breakout player of 2024.
