Perhaps the single element of being on our ranking team that I enjoy the most is the opportunity to unearth hidden gems that are either overlooked, under recruited, or not yet on the radar. Creating media buzz, notoriety, and calling attention for deserving prospects that are is a selfless joy I partake in. That said, independent of any agenda, here are some player's tapes that I really enjoyed and are simply and outright good football players.

The class of 2026 might not have a more bonafide red zone target than [player_tooltip player_id='1032176' first='Tyshaun' last='Boyd']. Boyd has basketball-like and receiver skills that translate to both offense and defense. First, he has some bend that allows him to explode low-to-high when defending. The ball is Boyd's mission as he claws at it on defense. Lastly, he weaponizes his arms to extend, separate, and create space for himself. Boyd uses his length and those skills I just mentioned to bat balls down and even pick them off. As a target he can jump and high point the ball with ease, often winning those situations as his quarterback loves to take advantage of his enormous catch radius.

[player_tooltip player_id='918994' first='Trey' last='McFadden'] is a prospect that Coach Milich has been touting for a while; I, unfortunately, had not heeded his advice until low. McFadden is a prospect that is a well coached and well refined prospect as a junior. As a target he high points the ball well; however, he always seems to know where the defense is, spinning out of their leverage to gain yardage. Further, McFadden seems to have a knack for running in the open field and the vision to find green acreage. At moments I think I see a second gear emerge from McFadden when he possesses the ball. A weapon as the punter is something he might also bring to the table, as McFadden converted a 4th and 12 on a fake punt scramble with him standing at his own 38 yard line for a touchdown. He will use his length and limbs to make his fakes look more dramatic. Another very savvy thing McFadden does is level-up when slicing across a defense, gradually gaining depth and climbing the secondary on long crossing routes. Lastly, I think McFadden might make a tremendous college tight end, as he is a good run blocker who makes a genuine effort to go along with his advanced-for-his-age receiving skills.

[player_tooltip player_id='1054650' first='Michael' last='Marotta'] has some damn good film. A solid tackler, he does so with his shoulder. Marotta reacts and flies out to the bubble very well, and moves so well that he is asked to cover #2 in 2x2 sets. At that point we see him get hands on to redirect the receiver and mug point men in bunch. Marotta loves to fly around and get to the ball, opting to etiher break down or track the hip with equal proficiency. Lastly, Marotta does a nice job fighting reach blocks to force cutbacks.

Another linebacker who has solid film is Newton's [player_tooltip player_id='999505' first='Nick' last='Kurilko']. Kurilko tackles low and wrap swell so rushers cannot escape his clutches. At his best with a running start, he finds his way, maneuvering through the forest known as the line of scrimmage, using linemen as his compass to the play. A master of pursuit angles, plays are always there to be made when Kurilko is on the field.

It should not come as a surprise that the state's top offensive linemen has impressive film. For Elias Martinez-Beasley, his game is his feet, quickness, and power. Martinez-Beasley does a superb job of keeping his feet through contact, working, and finishing his blocks - especially when pulling. Understanding leverage, we see him work his hands upwards into the chest of his opponent. I love linemen who get fired up to do their part of the game - Martinez-Beasley fits that mold as he his totally pumped when he makes killer blocks. Hs quick feet allow him to stay in front of defenders who cross his face when slanting. Martinez-Beasley's head placement is correct when pulling, preventing his assignment from getting inside his block. Pass protection features Martinez-Beasley punching and recoiling to keep defenders at bay, while his feet do not stop should he find himself locked on someone. With his duck walk when run blocking, it should come as a shock that Martinez-Beasley alternates between kick slides and powering down extremely well.
