[player_tooltip player_id='252223' first='Drew' last='Eilers'] is very lean for a Defensive End, but he has proven to be a game-breaker on the defense, and his dominance as a pass-rusher last season earned him district-defensive MVP honors last season after finishing with 96.5 tackles, 40 TFLs, and 12 sacks. Eilers takes a dangerous burst off the snap that is hard to contain, and he handles leverage well against blockers to get around them. A versatile threat, Eilers' speed makes him a stellar DE, RB, and TE, and he could switch to OLB in the collegiate level to better suit his size. Either way, Eilers is an exciting player to watch for the Rebels.

On the other side of the trenches on the Rebels' defense is [player_tooltip player_id='1352888' first='Michael' last='Boyd'], another tall, lean, and imposing pass-rusher for the team. Boyd had a really good season in 2023, finishing with 59 tackles, 21 TFLs, and 5 sacks. Boyd has a great upper frame with lengthy arms, and he uses that length to gain leverage over his blockers as well as reach for the ball to force a fumble. Boyd has solid footwork and makes hard, but clean hits in the backfield. Boyd is another intriguing prospect that could fit the DE/OLB hybrid in the next level, and his presence for the Rebels helps complete a well-rounded defensive-front.

Colton Harken plays on both sides of the trenches, but his performance as a run-stopper has certainly shined brighter in the spotlight for the Falcons. Harken finished last season with 21 tackles, 7.5 TFLs, and 1 sack. Harken plays with a low pad-level, and he is able to maneuver around his blockers efficiently both on the inside and outside shoulder. Harken shows solid strength to overpower his blockers and disrupt the run-game. Harken could be a versatile option as both a DE or a potential project player as a DT plugging the interior gaps. Either way, Harken is one of the biggest names on the Falcons' defense right now.

Ethan Osterhaus has mostly been on the JV team for the Wolverines, but his growing size and potential should help him break through into the starting lineup on varsity heading into his junior season. Osterhaus showed great strength on the line, wrestling against blockers and shutting down RBs at the line for no gain. Osterhaus shows solid footwork and covers the interior gaps well. I hope that we'll get to see Osterhaus make his varsity debut this season, and it shouldn't take long for him to make an impact on that unit.

[player_tooltip player_id='1286467' first='Will' last='Lockhart'] is one of the most ferocious, aggressive players playing on the trenches right now for the Cyclones. Lockhart accelerates off the snap and has a sneaky amount of length in his reach to gain leverage on his blockers. He drives hard on every rep, showing solid strength and excellent tackling form as a run-stopper, while also having quick acceleration around the edge as a pass-rusher. Lockhart has received offers from Grand View, Peru State, and a D2 offer from Upper Iowa. Lockhart has received plenty of attention for his performance on both sides of the trenches, and his versatility could benefit him greatly in the next level.

While there isn't any film currently of him, Drew Lansing has been an imapct-player on the Warriors' defense. Lansing finished last season with 38 tackles, 11 TFLs, and 6 sacks. Lansing has also been a stellar wrestler for the Warriors, with a 45-17 career wrestling record. I hope that we will get to see more of Lansing's impacts on the gridiron in 2024, and with the departure of top pass-rusher Jake Schoer, Lansing could be relied upon as the leader of the defensive-line.
