We're inching closer and closer to kickoff and I for one am more than ready for it. In preparation for it, today I'm looking at which 2027 wideouts could breakout this season. The group is a mixture of prospects who played at the varsity and lower levels in 2023. I think these guys have plenty of promise and will prove to be quite productive in year two of their high school careers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1561273' first='Lowery' last='Asel'], 5'10" 150, Lebanon Trail

A smaller slot receiver with solid speed, make you miss ability in space, and strong hands through contact. He has the vision to read blocks on the perimeter, he can muscle his way past arm tackle attempts, and has the body control & hands to adjust to passes thrown behind him.

Jayden Hopkins, 6'1" 175, Holmes

Jayden is fearless venturing through the heart of the defense, he shows quick hands to pluck the football out of the air and can generate late separation downfield on the nine route. He easily tracks the football over the shoulder, he's got a strong base to hold his own on the jump ball, and is a catch & tuck, north and south runner after the catch.

Murry Charles, 5'10" 165, Cypress Ridge

Charles has the speed to step on a corner's toes in the blink of an eye, he can adjust to the football midflight, and has terrific concentration through contact. He's a twitchy runner after the catch that can generate major YAC and shows impressive balance bouncing off physical tackle attempts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1248017' first='Chad' last='Nelson'] 5'8" 160, Mayde Creek

Don't let his size fool you, this kid is a physical presence that will maul you as a blocker out on the perimeter. Nelson is a major vertical threat that can lay out to make fully extended grabs. He's tough, has super sudden wiggle that often makes defenders look silly, and has hands like glue.

[player_tooltip player_id='727043' first='Tre' last='Brown'] 5'10" 175, Summer Creek

A big play machine as both a wideout and kick returner. Tre has the wheels to outrun angles, the footwork & hands to defeat physical man coverage, and can contort his body into awkward positions for poorly placed throws. He's not afraid of contact and understands the holes in zone coverage & where to throttle down in them.

[player_tooltip player_id='1772617' first='Zion' last='Harness'], 5'10" 150, Lake Belton

Zion has an impressive gear once he gets going and can generate serious separation between he and the defender. He accelerates out of his cuts, he can stop & start on a dime to evade tackle attempts, and will mix in some power as a runner after the catch.

[player_tooltip player_id='1055210' first='Ayo' last='Omotosho'], 5'11" 175, Houston Memorial

Ayo can climb the ladder on the 50/50 ball, he's a jitterbug runner who can make you miss in a phonebooth and shows the patience to let his blocks set up ahead of him. He's extremely competitive when the ball is in the air, is quite slippery through contact, and has the speed to get to the edge and threaten the defense.
