Shannon High School Check In

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Today, we made a trip to Shannon, Mississippi to checkout the 4A Raiders. These guys have a nice team this year. We expect to see them making a run in the playoffs again. They are led by head coach Ken Topps. This program has a lot of history. They won a state title in 1996. Shannon was one of the first programs to run a spread offense in the state of Mississippi. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Trey Spurgeon</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Spurgeon is a 2025 quarterback that is going to be a dog this season. We expect to see him putting up a lot of yards. He is also a guy that has quick feet and good hips. That will help him be a good defensive back on the next level. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='649001' first='Kegan' last='Ruff']</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Ruff is a 2025 running back that rushed for over 1600 yards last season. Ruff is an explosive guy that has quick feet. We can see him putting up a lot of yards again this season. He is a player that is going to have a chance to play on the next level.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='920545' first='Nik' last='Owens'] </strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Owens has decided that he is going to play his senior season at Shannon. This is a 6-foot-5, 260-pound guy that has a high motor. He is going to be a dog in the trenches this season. This young man has power five talent. We expect to see his stock rise this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Andrew Owens</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Owens is Nik's cousin. He is a dog that we are going to be keeping up with this season. We know that he is already picking up division one attention. He is a 6-foot-2, 275-pound guy that is going to be on the interior line in college. He is a bulldozer in the trenches.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Jaeden Dillworth </strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dillworth is a player that has great hips. We expect to see him playing both ways this season. Dillworth has good speed as week. He is one of those natural defensive backs that has great instincts. He is another guy that transferred from Nettleton. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Daggarious Clifton</strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Clifton is a 2026 wide receiver that you guys need to know. This young man has 28 yards per catch last season. He is a dog that we know Coach Topps is going to be trying to get the ball to. It is very hard to hold him. Especially when defensive backs are playing off.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Chase Richardson </strong></h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Richardson is a 6-foot, 180-pound guy that we like a lot. This young man is going to have a great season this year. He is a 2026 defensive back that has big hands and long arms. We also noticed that he is able to change directions well. Richardson also has good ball skills. Today was our first time seeing him in person. We are looking forward to seeing him again.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
