Neville has been one of Louisiana's most consistent large-school programs for decades now, including the past six seasons as a top-four seed in the playoffs.

The Tigers had reached four straight semifinals in Class 4A before the 2022 postseason restructure shifted them to Division-I Non-Select.

And new coach Mike Collins — a veteran in the region primarily at the college ranks, but who most recently coordinated the Tigers' defense — has another talented team with high expectations entering the season.

Neville continues Prep Redzone Louisiana's series of "Offseason 3-2-1" spotlights looking at three key returning standouts, two notable breakout candidates and one underclassman to know sooner than later.

3 WELL-KNOWN RETURNERS

[player_tooltip player_id='920694' first='Julian' last='Burns'] — 6-2, 190 DB — Neville (2026)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1214142' first='Cam' last='Riley'] — 6-0, 165 DB — Neville (2025)

and [player_tooltip player_id='710074' first='Brody' last='Whatley'] — 6-5, 250 DL — Neville (2025)

The three highest-ranked prospects returning on Forsythe Avenue are all on the defensive side of the ball. The Tigers return a pair of college-committed, all-district standouts in Riley, the Louisiana (Lafayette)-bound cornerback, and Whatley, the Baylor-bound trench monster up front — along with the undersized, but hyper-productive rising senior safety Robert Graves and his highly touted rising junior counterpart in Burns. Whatley earned all-state honors as a junior.

[player_tooltip player_id='1224577' first='Thomas' last='Campbell'] — 6-2, 235 TE — Neville (2025)

and [player_tooltip player_id='912255' first='Kaleb' last='Vaughn'] — 5-9, 160 WR/ATH — Neville (2025)

The Tigers return a thunder-and-lightning tandem of this past fall's all-district selections on offense — along with fellow rising senior Brayden Blade on the offensive line — in the big physical tight end and electric and versatile multi-phase speedster. Campbell, the younger brother of star LSU left tackle Will Campbell, recently picked up a college offer from Nicholls State, while Louisiana Tech helped kick off Vaughn's recruitment.

[player_tooltip player_id='912258' first='Jaylon' last='Nichols'] — 5-11, 180 RB — Neville (2025)

Speaking of thunder-and-lightning for the Tigers' offense, Neville returns its hard-running mainstay in the backfield, a breakout and all-district performer as a sophomore who has been among the top running backs on college radars in Louisiana's loaded 2025 class at the position ever since.

2 BREAKOUT CANDIDATES

[player_tooltip player_id='1336729' first='Anzelon' last='Perkins'] — 6-1, 265 DL — Neville (2025)

All of Whatley's aforementioned defensive standouts to know were playmakers in the secondary, but he's not along on the defensive front. Perkins may be another name more fans and college coaches soon know as one of the Tigers' biggest bodies, a run-stuffer and disruptor in the middle.

[player_tooltip player_id='1356111' first='Emaude' last='Sledge'] — 6-0, 160 WR — Neville (2027)

and [player_tooltip player_id='1238574' first='Ze'land' last='Young'] — 6-4, 190 WR — Neville (2026)

Neville has a couple of intriguing younger receivers on the outside who should join Campbell, Nichols and Vaughn among the offense's most consistent weapons, as well as notable prospects in Louisiana's future recruiting classes.

1 UNDERCLASSMAN TO KNOW

[player_tooltip player_id='489183' first='Parker' last='Robinson'] — 6-2, 180 QB — Neville (2027)

The transfer from St. Frederick is pushing senior Brock Jordan for opportunities at quarterback this offseason. The tall, athletic multisport standout has been on the Prep Redzone Louisiana radar as one of the notable young passers in Louisiana's loaded class at the position since before he began high school and he looks poised to be able to showcase some of that talent at a higher level than ever before sooner than later.
