NELITE “Wideouts” Camp Standouts

It was a great camp featuring high-level coaching and some of the top QB/WR/TE prospects in the Nebraska/Iowa area. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Throughout the two-day event, I took mental notes of players who stood out to me and have now had the chance to look back at some clips. Here are a few of the standouts from the camp.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:separator --> <hr class="wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity" /> <!-- /wp:separator --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='533092' first='Zion' last='Rush'] | 2026 | QB | Millard North | 6'1" 185 lbs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/21627181/Zion-Rush" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://x.com/Zrush13_" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Twitter</a></em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Zion is a player we picked to be a "Breakout Candidate" for the Mustangs this season, and his performance on Friday and Saturday further stoked that claim.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- The biggest takeaway from watching Zion throw is that he has really dialed in on the footwork and mechanics as a passer, which has made him a lot more accurate. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Rush has always had a pretty strong arm, but it looks like some added muscle over the offseason has given his throwing power a bit of a boost. He can put some nice zip on the ball and can throw with accuracy from deep. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- I'm really looking forward to seeing what Zion and the 'Stangs can accomplish this season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='318995' first='Keynan' last='Cotton'] | 2025 | WR/ATH | Omaha Westside | 5'10" 185 lbs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/15921736/Keynan-Cotton" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://x.com/keynancotton" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Twitter</a></em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Cotton is an elite athlete who flashes an excellent mix of speed and strength and is extremely twitchy with the ball in his hands.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Keynan has proven to be one of the top route-runners, not just in his class but in the state. Keynan runs some very precise routes with explosive change of direction.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Although we didn't get to see 1v1 reps, it is worth noting that Keynan has a great sense for finding open spots in coverage and can create separation from defenders in man coverage.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Elite two-way talent who is bound to take the next step this fall!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='476963' first='Jett' last='Thomalla'] | 2026 | QB | Millard South | 6'4" 195 lbs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/17798506/Jett-Thomalla">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://x.com/JettThomalla">Twitter</a></em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- The top QB in the 2026 class, Millard South's [player_tooltip player_id='476963' first='Jett' last='Thomalla'], continued to impress as he gears up for what should be a big junior year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Tall, prototypical QB who can stand poised in the pocket while reading and moving through his progressions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Jett showed off his elite arm talent as he completed passes to all levels of the field and delivered the ball with great timing. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Excellent footwork and mechanics. Jett already looks like a very polished prospect who will only continue to improve with two more seasons left to play.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em>[player_tooltip player_id='1059040' first='Jordan' last='Harris'] | 2025 | WR | Papillion-La Vista South | 5'10" 180 lbs</em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong><em><a href="https://www.hudl.com/profile/16052085/Jordan-Harris" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Hudl</a> | <a href="https://x.com/jordanharris616">Twitter</a></em></strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Jordan has been opening some eyes this summer after earning an offer from the Drake Bulldogs, and the Wideouts camp was no different.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- What really impressed me about Jordan was his ability to drop his hips super low before exploding through his change of direction.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>- Harris also does an excellent job attacking the ball when it's up in the air.
