We are all still getting used to the new Region realignments. Some teams will be Region rivals for the 1st team in a long time, some will be facing each other for the 1st time ever. Today we take a look at the returning QB picture in what figures to be a the highly competitive Region 7-1A which is made up of 8 teams in NW/N Georgia.

[player_tooltip player_id='1184819' first='Lawson' last='Sullivan'] - 2025

The 5'10 178 rising Senior returns for the Rebels this Fall after putting up some incredible numbers last season. He passed for a little over 1200 yards with 12 TDs on 164 attempts. The duel threat QB added 1376 yards on the ground with 19 rushing TDs and averaged close to 10 yards per carry. Long, lean and takes big strides with good change of direction. Deceptive speed, especially in the open field, and has a decent throwing arm with a lot of weapons downfield that makes him deadly when he is forced out of the pocket. A 1st Team All Region selection last Fall as well as a All State HM pick. Sullivan will be a front runner this season for the Region OPOY.

[player_tooltip player_id='1566608' first='Carter' last='Triplett'] - 2025

The 6'4 220 rising Senior is a bulldozer. Dual threat QB that has the size and strength to tuck the ball and run over you or drop back and hurt you with his arm downfield. He passed for close to 1700 yards last season with 15 TDs on 221 attempts. He added 1100 yards rushing with 15 TDs on the ground. A 3 year starter that plays with a lot of confidence and is a hard player to game plan for. The Lions have a lot of tall weapons downfield. Triplett should receive some next level attention this Fall.

Dade County Wolverines:

Bryson Shrader - 2025

This is the 1st time in several seasons that the Dade Co Wolverines return their starting QB. Shrader was solid last season passing for 1300 yards with 15 TDs while leading Dade to an unprecedented 3 straight playoff appearance and a trip to the 2nd Rd. Athletic 6'1 QB that can buy time with his feet if flushed out of the pocket. During our Summer combine he finished in the Top 4 on the team in all 3 events we tested. If Dade is going to make the post season for the 4th straight season Shrader will have to be a good game manager this season as he has a lot of new parts around him to work with.

Chattooga Indians

Landon Willingham - 2025

Quarry Gibson - 2025

We will find out Week 1 how the Chattooga Indians approach the QB position this Fall but we know they have 2 capable returners with experience under center. The 6'0 160 Willingham is the prostyle option. He passed for 675 yards in '23 with 81 attempts. Long athletic guy with good speed and good arm. 6'0 170 Quarry Gibson split time under center last Fall in Summerville and gives the Indians more of a dual threat look. He completed 8 of 13 passes in '23 for 126 yards and a score. On the ground the averaged 8.5 yards per carry. A very athletic kid that could be a factor at any skill position on the field.

Coosa Eagles

Jaylen Worfford - 2025

The 5'11 Worfford showed some flashes last season for what might be instore for the Eagles this Fall. Jaylen has good vision and delivers the ball with a nice touch making it easy to catch for the WRs. He has good arm strength and gets the ball downfield with the flick of the wrist. Last season was his 1st season as a starting QB and with the confidence he gained Coosa and Worfford could be the dark horse in the Region race.

Gordon Lee Trojans

Dustin Day - 2026

The Trojans aren't traditionally a team that is going to beat you throwing the ball downfield 30x a game, they need an experienced game manager and they have that in Day. He passed for over 600 yards and 4 TDs with only 12 attempts per game. Gordon Lee had over 400 rushing attempts in '23 with Day directing the traffic. If they are going to challenge for the Region Title they will need his experience under center in helping to eliminate turnovers. A lot of playmakers in the backfield.
