During this 2025 rankings update, the DB group got turned upside down. We've added nearly 20 new DBs to the rankings, and several of them ate ranked quite high. In this article, I'll be going over the eight New Addition DBs with the highest ceilings.

Desmon is the highest-ranked new addition Defensive Back. Though, let's be real, he should have been ranked a long time ago.
He's everything you'd expect from a Belleville DB, plus, he's a tall, lengthy DB. Desmon has some of the fastest feet and most fluid hips in the class. You better bet he's great in press-man coverage as well. Just turn on the tape and watch him lock up several very good receivers. I fully expect Desmon to be a phenomenal college DB.

Sometimes it's difficult to keep track of and rank all of the DBs... Let alone all of the DBs at River Rouge. After looking over the film and considering recruiting, we've got Jaiden ranked as the #4 DB in the state.
Generally, his film shows exactly what you'd expect for any Rouge DB. He's versatile, can defend the run, and has elite ball skills. If Jadien loses a step in coverage, Jaiden does a phenomenal job at quickly recovering before stretching out and getting a hand on the football. On top of that, there are a few moments of great press coverage, where he showcases fluid hips, very fast feet, and good athleticism. Considering his offers, I'd expect Jaiden to have phenomenal testing times.

Out of all the New Addition defensive backs, I've probably watched Jaheem the most. At #115, he's ranked alongside one of the best D2 prospects despite only having one D2 offer. Jaheem thrives in man coverage and is pretty polished fundamentally. In press, he does an excellent job of getting hands on his man and immediately affecting the route. Even if he loses a step initially, Jaheem has the athleticism and ball skills to usually get a hand on the football. I'm not quite sure why more D2s don't offer, but I'm confident that more offers will come after a good season.

Starting at De La Salle is incredibly difficult. Last season, Isaiah did exceptionally well at DB while sometimes being trusted on an island. Generally, Isaiah's tape shows great man coverage against some great receivers. Especially when running press against a receiver looking to run deep, Isaiah does a great job of affecting the route early, sticking onto his man, then getting a hand on the football for a PBU. I haven't seen a ton of tape from Isaiah, though I'm confident his Ferris offer plus play at DLS means he's pretty athletic and skilled across the board. He's someone I'm ranking mostly on projection, and I'm looking forward to seeing further improvement heading into next season.

River has garnered a good amount of attention over the past few months. Last season, he put up some solid highlights. Usually playing off-man, River does a solid job of staying on his man and breaking on the football when the ball comes his way. Though, once the ball is thrown his way, River sometimes gets a tad sloppy with his footwork and doesn't explode toward the football like some of the better DBs in this class. Also, his overall footwork can be cleaned up, and I'd like to see some press-man reps. All in all, River is an athletic defensive back who projects as a good D3 college football player.

I'm bullish on Cory from his offseason work. Now, there isn't much game tape, but from what I've seen, Cory is a highly skilled DB who has done phenomenal work this offseason. The few highlights that I can find show a player with fast feet, good change of direction, and solid press-man fundamentals. On top of that, I like that he's a tall DB, and I love that he has an 11.24s 100M dash. My gut tells me that he's a great Division 3 prospect, and I'm looking forward to him going out and proving my projection correct this coming season.

Lyn is someone else that I'm quite high on. I'm not sure if he has any offers, but based on the tape, he should get some attention. I love what Lyn was able to do at Safety last season. First off, he came away with several interceptions. Granted, most of these interceptions were via a horrible throw by the opposing Quarterback. There is one interception in particular (0:40) where he covers a ton of ground and snags an INT off the tip drill. Several other plays showcase good man coverage as an outside DB and overall great instincts. I think Lyn could still play a step faster while also being more of a force in run defense. If he can do those things, he could easily earn a ton of offers.

I was able to watch Rob at a Saginaw Valley camp a few weeks back. There, he proved to have above-average athleticism while being mostly on-par with the best DBs at camp. Notably, he has great fundamentals when it comes to press coverage. The actual execution and fluidity in his movement is sometimes a step slower than some, but it's still apparent that he knows how to play DB at a high level- just needs more reps and high confidence. It's also notable that Rob displayed good ball skills throughout camp.
He may be a smaller prospect, but he's quite skilled and a college should pick him up as a high floor player.

During this 2025 rankings update, the DB group got turned upside down. We've added nearly 20 new DBs to the rankings, and several of them ate ranked quite high. In this article, I'll be going over the eight New Addition DBs with the highest ceilings.
