Region I-2A is another region that will be affected in a major way by realignment. Perennial powerhouse Abbeville is gone, moving down to 1A, and schools are shuffling out (Ninety Six) and in (Clinton, for football only). Here's a look at the guys we think will have a big impact on the season.

Blacksburg Wildcats

[player_tooltip player_id='1149066' first='Josh' last='Sims'] QB, 2025

Sims threw for more than 2,000 yards and 21 TDs a year ago, and that was in a year in which he was still processing coach Josh Batchler's offense as the Wildcats fully took the leap from the Double Wing to a more Spread look. Sims has a strong arm, and he's more than capable in the pocket, but where he excels is when he breaks containment. Then, he can really make you pay with his legs.

Chesnee Eagles

Kjay Proctor ATH, 2025

Proctor is one of the rarest things in football - a guy who's played QB who is also *checks notes* an edge rusher. Proctor plays OLB and DE for the Eagles, and while how he'll be used offensively in a new system for the Eagles hasn't quite been settled yet, his unique size and athleticism will present a bunch of opportunities - and a bunch of problems for opponents.

Clinton Red Devils

[player_tooltip player_id='1012830' first='Tushawan' last='Richardson'] QB, 2025

Richardson is a dual threat guy in the truest sense of the word. He threw for more than 1,500 yards last year for the Red Devils in a year when they increased their passing output dramatically. He was also the team's leading rusher, one of four guys with at least 350 yards on the ground. Richardson uses his talents in the Red Devils' pistol-spread look to do much more than keep defenses honest - he makes them pay.

Landrum Cardinals

[player_tooltip player_id='1592581' first='AJ' last='Lindsey'] LB, 2026

Lindsey had a phenomenal sophomore year for the Cardinals, leading the team with 71 tackles and turning in 13.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four interceptions and two fumble recoveries. He'll see time on offense as well, but Lindsey will shine in the Cardinals' defensive scheme, and it's likely you'll always find him around the ball.

No HUDL available

Liberty Red Devils

Jamijae Karim LB, 2026

Karim is another guy who had a great sophomore season, and he's back to help lead the Red Devils' defense. He does an excellent job of pursuing the ball, and he's a violent tackler when he gets there. Karim also plays some on the offensive side of the ball, and brings the same physical, hard-nosed attitude to RB as well.
