It's not a surprise to see one of the state's all-time powerhouses here.

The Green Wave have been a force in South Carolina high school football for decades. No wonder, then, that they've had a ton of players - 31 in all - ranked since the 2020 football season.

Summerville has never had fewer than three players ranked in a complete season, and they've had guys at every position except punter (They did have two kickers, Brayden Gregory (No. 198 in 2021) and Gage Lewis (No. 171 in 2022).) Here's a look at some of the guys who helped put Summerville near the top of the rankings.

LOADED AT LB

The Green Wave have had six LBs in the rankings, including multiple players at the position in the same years. Desmon Southers (No. 151) and Nick Chambers (219) were both ranked in the 2021 class, with Steve Simpkins following at No. 101 in 2023. Jaidyn Penix and Kayden Gaddist were ranked No. 71 and No. 110 respectively in 2004, and combined to help lead a defense that gave up just 20 points on average. The current ranked Summerville LB is [player_tooltip player_id='1267285' first='JT' last='Williams'], the No. 130 player in the 2026 class. He's a quick, physical player who closes on the ball well and who's excellent in coverage.

STRONG UP FRONT

The bulk of the Green Wave's ranked players have come from, well, the bulk. Four offensive linemen and four defensive linemen have filled the list for Summerville. Jackson Campeau (No, 229 in 2021), Drew Inabinet and Reginald Pinckney (No. 82 and No. 231 in 2023) and D'Arcii Smith (No. 322 in 2024) were all ranked on the OL, with Carnell Jones (No. 136 in 2022), Josh Matusik (No. 134 in 2023) and Julius Brown and Jaderio Lott (No. 168 and No. 222 in 2024) their counterparts on the DL. The Green Wave have another guy up front in the 2025 rankings, with TE [player_tooltip player_id='1249768' first='Keshon' last='Washington'] raked No. 98 in the class. Washington is a legit receiving target for the Green Wave, with nearly 300 receiving yards last season, and Summerville uses him in a bunch of ways, from lining up at H-back and shifting into the slot to true TE play, where he's also an adept blocker.

GOING FORWARD

In addition to Williams and Washington, the Green Wave have a wealth of talent currently on the roster. QB [player_tooltip player_id='367350' first='Jaden' last='Cummings'] is the No. 24 ranked player in the 2025 Class. He's joined by RB [player_tooltip player_id='272723' first='Ashton' last='Allen-Hawkins'] (No. 224) and [player_tooltip player_id='1253992' first='Rhyan' last='White'] (No. 235). And in the 2027 Class, ATH [player_tooltip player_id='378969' first='Jaiden' last='Kelly-Murray'] holds the No. 1 ranking. He shines on the defensive side of the ball, but he's likely to be a factor on offense as well, and he's a more than solid kick returner.
