The session had to be abruptly cut short as the heat peaked, so Prep Redzone Louisiana only got the opportunity to fully watch the Zachary-Madison Prep and Zachary-Scotlandville matchups.

Each was full of standouts and eye-catchers — from high-profile college prospects to new faces catching our attention for the first time. Here are notes on a handful.

[player_tooltip player_id='920618' first='Kristion' last='Brooks'] — 6-3, 180 WR — Zachary (2026)

The Broncos' rising junior receiver — who has picked up a few recent offers, including Louisiana (Lafayette), Louisiana Tech and Arkansas State — looks poised for a major breakout season this fall. Brooks may have been the tallest player on the field much of the morning and showed impressive footwork and body control in his route-running and plays on the ball and explosive burst upfield after the catch. Also notably, rising sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='1356118' first='Asher' last='Carter'], another big target lined up on the opposite side, caught out attention as another budding standout to know sooner than later.

[player_tooltip player_id='291087' first='Caleb' last='Gonzales'] — 5-10, 175 QB — Zachary (2025)

After pushing for and earning some playing time last year, Gonzalez has the full stranglehold on the Broncos' starting role heading into senior year. He has clearly bulked up some in the meantime and says he feels stronger in his throws. And while the calendar still says June and the pads won't come on for several weeks, Gonzalez carries himself with levels of confidence and poise — including a late possession against the clock — in a way that clearly resonates with his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='739753' first='Landon' last='Johnson'] — 6-0, 165 ATH — Madison Prep (2027)

In just two quick 7-on-7 matchups, the younger Johnson brother not only saw action at, but made plays at quarterback, receiver and cornerback. When older brother Tylan was running the offense, "Manu" was among his top targets. And on the other side of the ball, he matched up against Brooks on the outside during the Zachary-Madison Prep matchup, broke up one pass near the goal line and did a better job than anyone of making Brooks work for space and receptions.

[player_tooltip player_id='401973' first='Keyon' last='Robinson'] — 6-0, 190 WR — Madison Prep (2026)

The rising junior has been one of the more popular names this June in the Baton Rouge metro 7-on-7 circuit with his big-play ability for the Chargers and once again stepped up when veteran quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='291086' first='Tylan' last='Johnson'] and company needed him most, going up and hauling in a highlight-reel, matchup-winning catch against Zachary in the end zone. Robinson, the aforementioned younger Johnson and rising senior Brandon Blunt Jr. all made big plays during that contest to help upend the Broncos for the first time this summer.

Terrance Smith — 5-11, 190 DB — Scotlandville (2025)

The rising senior snatched an interception that helped provide his Hornets' defense a spark during an always high-energy — whether fall or summer — matchup against district rival Zachary.
