Each year there are players who we love to see in person. We watch countless hours of film but seeing a player in person is always the best way to scout players. With the 2024 season rapidly approaching we will discuss several running backs in the 2025 class that are worth the price of admission.

Burton is a speedy running back who runs well between the tackles with power. He has the speed to make a house call from any down and distance. He is shifty in space with the ability to make defenders miss in the open field. Burton runs with excellent pad level and his vision in the hole allows him to read his blocks well. He has a lean, stout build that he uses well to break arm tackles. Burton has been a key cog in the Needville offense for three seasons and he heads into his senior season as a top playmaker for Needville. He has the skill set to play at the next level and he is a player who college programs need to get eyes on.

While Murray is a factor on both sides of the football, he is natural playmaker with football in hands. Murray has all the tools of an elite ball carrier. He is a perfect blend of speed, size, and shiftiness from the running back position. While we are in the age of wide open offenses, he plays in a version of the Slot T for Bellville. He runs well between the tackles, he has excellent pad level in the hole and he has the burst at the second level to go the distance. Murray has superb short area quickness, he has the ability to make defenders miss in space and he has natural cutback ability. Murray was a key piece in the Bellville attack that advanced to the 4A state title game. He rushed for 2,072 yards and 38 touchdowns in 2023. College programs need to pull up and get eyes on Murray. He has an offer from Sul Ross. I expect that number to grow as more schools began to pay attention to D.D. and Bellville in the 2024 season.

Jackson is a strong runner who has the speed to take it to house. He runs with excellent pad level, he has the power to break arm tackles and he has a low center of gravity. He is a smooth runner with the quickness to make defenders miss in the open field. He has been a three year starter on both sides of the ball for Franklin and he helped lead them to the 3A state title his freshman and sophomore seasons. In 2023 he rushed for 2,432 yards and 33 touchdowns. Jackson has been a featured back in the run heavy Franklin offense. He is 3-star recruit with offers from Wyoming, UTEP, Boston College, Sam Houston, Texas Tech, and Prairie View.

Everson is a strong runner, he has a powerful lower half and he has the strength to break arm tackles. He runs well between the tackles, displaying excellent vision and he has the burst at the second level to make a house call for six. At 6 foot and 200 pounds, Everson has the frame to tote the rock and pound a defense. When Jacob sees a crease in the defense, he hits the hole like his hair is on fire. He will be a key cog for Klein Oak in 2024. He has been getting attention from college programs, with interest from Memphis and recently received an offer from Valparaiso.
