As we head into the end of June, the start of the 2024 high school football season is coming closer and closer. With that being said, I wanted to take some time to focus on some players at each position that I am expecting a breakout year from this season. These players include those stepping into bigger roles as well as those I'm simply expecting to see a rise in production from. After already covering the quarterbacks and running backs, here are some wide receivers in the state of Kentucky that I expect to take the next step this season!

[player_tooltip player_id='1311235' first='Jackson' last='Arnold'] continued to make a name for himself in a high-powered Highlands offense last season. He finished his junior year with 25 receptions for 402 yards and eight touchdowns in 14 games. Arnold lines up on the outside where he is able to use his speed to pose as a dangerous deep threat. He is also very impressive after the catch, using his speed and elusiveness in the open field to turn short passes/screens into big plays. Jackson currently holds offers from Marshall and Air Force, and I expect more to come his way as he is a Division I caliber wide receiver prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1175798' first='Conner' last='Norsworthy'] was a productive WR3 in the Dunbar passing attack last season. He finished his sophomore year with 41 receptions for 441 yards and two touchdowns in 11 games. Norsworthy is an impressive route runner, showing the ability to use his quick release and speed to create separation with ease. He is also very reliable in contested catch situations, showing the ability to bring in passes through contact. Conner doesn't currently hold any offers but I expect a lot of eyes to be on him this season as he will likely become the go-to target in the Dunbar offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='401698' first='Daelen' last='Thompson'] is another 2026 receiver who started to showcase his talent last season. He finished this past season with 30 catches for 314 yards and a touchdown in 14 games .Thompson is a very skilled route runner, showing the ability to use quick breaks in his routes to create separation. He also has explosive speed which he uses to blow by opposing defensive backs in the deep passing game. Daelen also scored one rushing touchdown and returned two punts for touchdowns as a sophomore. Thompson doesn't currently hold any offers but he is definitely a player to keep an eye on as his role in the Ballard offense continues to grow.

[player_tooltip player_id='1311247' first='Brenden' last='Brown'] is a player who started to showcase his talent last season and has continued to impress during the summer camp circuit. Brown only played in five games as a sophomore but impressed when on the field, catching eight passes for 95 yards and four touchdowns. He has impressive speed which he uses to blow by opposing defensive backs in the deep passing game. Brown also has impressive hands and has shown the ability to look in passes over his shoulder without breaking stride. Brenden currently holds offers from Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Murray State, and I expect more to come his way as he still has three years to continue to develop.

The final wide receiver in the state of Kentucky that I expect to have a breakout season this year is [player_tooltip player_id='408628' first='Jordan' last='Holman']. Holman is a long, athletic receiver that has shown the versatility to play on both the outside and in the slot. He is a smooth route runner, using the breaks in his routes to create separation with ease. Holman also has very reliable hands, showing the ability to haul in passes away from his body with ease. Jordan recently picked up his first offer from Kentucky and I expect a lot of eyes to be on him after transferring from Trinity to Woodford County for his sophomore year.
