He has good coverage skills. He can also come upfield and make a tackle in the open field well. Looking at his film this off-season he has been playing more wide receiver for Canon-McMIllan and I can see him being a contributor there as well next season. His film is from his junior varsity football team. At defensive he shows solid coverage skills. He also did a nice job in providing run support. He does this by coming upfield and making tackles in the open field. At quarterback, he has limited film, but he did a good job of setting his feet and throwing the football. He does a nice job of firing off and driving defensive linemen off the ball. He shows good strength by power-blocking defensive players. He also has good footwork. He can stay in front of defenders in pass blocking very well. Because of his size (6'4 inches tall) and his reach, he can extend his arms and stay in front of defenders. As an outside linebacker, he does a good job of reading and reacting to the play and then coming upfield to make a tackle. He also does a good job of dropping in coverage and making the right read when the ball is thrown in his direction. At wide receiver position he shows good skills. He runs good routes and catches the ball well. He especially catches the ball well around defenders in traffic. He played mostly on the junior varsity, but he played well on both sides of the ball. The 1st thing that stands out is his size. He stands 6'2 inches tall. This allows him to make a ton of plays on the ball. When the ball is thrown in his direction as a wide receiver he has the size to outjump defenders. He does an outstanding job on these 50/50 balls. Then when he plays as a defensive back he shows good coverage skills. Portis should have a bigger role this season for East Allegheny. At the linebacker position, he does a good job of reading and reacting to the play and attacking downhill. He is also a good tackler, especially in the open field. As a tight end, Miller showed a good job of blocking, especially on the edge.
