As spring practices emerge for high schools around the state of Florida, I wanted to highlight some of the local schools in the Polk County area which has been a known hotbed county in producing athletes and talented football players. Our fourth spring tour stop features notable head coach Kendrick Stewart and the Victory Christian Storm who finished 6-6 last season but return a number of college prospects who have a chance to make some noise in the 863. Prep Redzone scout Drew Johnson will turn to his backyard to attend one of the first week's spring practice.

[player_tooltip player_id='1220110' first='JoJo' last='Scott'] | 2025 | DB | VCA | @JoJoScott0

One of the hottest names in the county on the recruiting trail. This kid has added major Power 4 offers this offseason. On Friday nights, Scott is the main attraction on both sides of the ball for Victory Christian as he's a home run type player who has made some big-time catches while making plays as a lockdown DB on the defensive end. Scott will provide solid coverage and play the defensive back position at the next level.

Myshawn McKinley | 2025 | DB | VCA | @myshawnMK

I'm really impressed with this kid's overall progression since making a move over to VCA. He fits in well with this coaching staff who landed a hidden gem at the DB position and has developed into a D1 defensive back prospect. McKinley also runs track which he uses to his advantage in coverage. Solid frame with some time to add weight for the next level. He's also received some college interest but look out for his name to pop going towards fall.

Jaden Gray | 2025 | DB | VCA | @GrayJaden_

Have had the chance to watch this kid develop his frame and technique the past couple of years and he's ready to make the next step. Some kids don't need to say much but prefer to bring the Dog out on the field. Gray is a solid defensive back prospect with reliable tackling skills and decent coverage in various looks.

Zyrell Thomas | 2026 | RB | VCA | @863ZyrellThomas

Thomas is an underrated running back on VCA who could likely play other positions as well with his versatile build and athletic ability. Talking with coach at practice, if this kid can put it together he has the chance to make some noise and earn college interest. Has a good set of skills but it's now time to lock in as a rising junior next season.

Jalin Gray | 2026 | DB | VCA | @jalingray

The brother of Jaden Gray mentioned above, Jalin is a solid defensive back in his own right. He's a slimmer but lengthier prospect that when the coverage skills is combined with solid tackling, look out for some offers/interest to roll in.

[player_tooltip player_id='928360' first='Jordan' last='Jenkins'] | 2025 | OL | VCA | @jordann3jenkins

One of the trench monsters on this VCA team who will look to lead the way as a rising junior next season. At 6-3, 290-pounds, no doubt this kid has the frame to land a spot at the next level but it'll be the mental, physical, and technique that will push him into a Power 4 offensive line prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='1715880' first='Cru' last='Slocum'] | 2027 | QB | VCA | @CruSlocum

The new leader under center for this offense will have a lot to learn since transitioning from the safety position. Slocum does have experience with throwing as he's a two-sport athlete who plays some baseball. The natural lefty looked decent going through routes on air today but it'll come down to footwork mechanics and work in the offseason that'll build more confidence.

Elijah Byers | 2026 | OL/DL | @ElijahByers18

Another 2026 trench monster who will add to a powerful young offensive line that can build some confidence and chemistry together heading into the fall. At 6-3, 310-pounds, Byers has the tools and frame to develop into a nice D1 prospect with plenty of time to work on his hands and technique.

Tucker Fox | 2026 | ATH | VCA @tuckerfox15

Fox has made his way over from the basketball court to get some work in on the gridiron for his high school. The rising guard will be used as a speedster on the offensive side that'll surprise some teams with his skills.

Best of Rest:

Don't have these two Twitter accounts but man I got my eyes on them. Both are tall and long wide receivers who will be go-to targets for the young QB going through the offseason.

DJ Sanders | 2026 | WR | VCA

Andrew Morrison | 2027 | WR | VCA
