Our second spring tour stop features head coach Rich Pringle and the Lake Gibson Braves who finished 5-5 last season but return a number of young rising prospects who have a chance to make some noise in the 863. Prep Redzone scout Drew Johnson will turn to his backyard to attend one of the first week’s spring practices.
Collin Henderson | QB | 2027 | Lake Gibson | @collin_cj12
The Polk County area is a known hotbed for producing athletic skill talent but the natural quarterbacks have made noise here recently as 2027 Lake Gibson QB Collin Henderson adds to a growing list. I left LG’s first practice day with pads impressed with Henderson’s natural throwing ability and arm strength. Excellent ball placement under pressure for a young freshman was notable. Got my eyes on this kid as the spring continues to progress into a solid leader.
Cason Dash Cason Dash 6'1" | 175 lbs | DB Lakeland Lake Gibson | 2026 FL | DB | 2026 | Lake Gibson | @CasonDash3
Dash is a 2026 DB prospect that colleges need to get into before it’s too late. He’s had a learning and development year at the position which should be critical moving forward. He can provide solid man coverage but will be a true D1 prospect with more technique.
Malachi Moore | LB | 2027 | Lake Gibson | @MalachiMoore222
The Moore genes run strong as Malachi is another physical and fast-playing linebacker who should make some noise on the LG defense this season. Was impressed with his size in person as the young freshman looks like he’s been putting in the work at 5’11, 210-pounds. Still time to add an inch or two but a lot of upside was shown at practice today.
Derrick McBride II | ATH | 2026 | Lake Gibson | @dmcbridejr_
If this kid puts it all together, he possibly has one of the highest ceilings in the county. He’s equipped with a 6-2, 185-pound frame as a dual-sport athlete who has long arms and decent speed. He can make plays at the receiver position but he had a pick 6 today and showed with added weight he can play the defensive back position at the next level.
Christopher Garcia | ATH | 2027 | Lake Gibson | @ChrisGarcia2027
My DOG of the day! Garcia was fired up to start the morning as he set the tone during the early tackling drill session. He carried that confidence and fire throughout practice as he made plays in nearly every drill. Love when a kid is all-effort, coachable, and lets the game come to him.
