As one of the deepest groups we have ever had, and from my eyes, a group loaded with upside, growth, and athleticism and more, we laid out all out from Saturday in the secondary. You will meet the highest upside 2027 cornerback from our combine, high football IQs, and prospects that I could see moving up a few spots by next update.
Aiden was one of the first 2027s I got my first look at our Prep Redzone Dakotas Combine on Saturday. The freshmen from Sioux Falls Lincoln showed off a fluid lower-body explosiveness in the early testing and carried it on in drills as Aiden was one that passed the ole eye test as a DB with growing upside coming his way. Aiden also has good athleticism to grow on as this young man showed off reps where his vision and and change of direction came thru faster on game-speed than his testing numbers would show.
Another prospect I made a prediction on was that Wall 2026 defensive back Younger Amiotte Younger Amiotte 6’0″ | 180 lbs | DB Wall | 2026 State SD would be one of our top defensive backs in the group which before I got to the lineup of who our top performers were, I was already alerted that he was in contention. The change of direction lived up to the hype I saw on tape as Younger has been one that has been impressed me with his COD getting downhill to the ball quickly. Younger comes from a great family pedigree of Wall Eagles that are playing at the next-level and his top performer 1v1 rep showed off great precision as you can tell Younger is one that one of his strengths is attention to detail. South Dakota’s DB3 will certainly be another Wall Eagle you likely will see at the next-level as one that I could see as a overall stockriser by next rankings update.
Highlights
Jakob Guthmiller
Jakob Guthmiller
One defensive back that I thought was right there as one of our top performing defensive backs was Sioux Valley 2026 Jakob Guthmiller. Jakob was one that I thought was amongst top of the pack amongst defensive backs for his football IQ as he seemed to being positionally sound in the reps I watched on Saturday at Augustana. You can gauge that Jakob has that pre-snap vision that just clings downhill to the ball. He showed off a safety that can play from sideline to sidleine and chomps at the bit to show off his use of technique. Sioux Valley seems to always be one that reloads fluidly every year we have been in the Dakotas, as Jakob amongst others seem like the next batch Cossacks that have a great shot at the next-level.
A 2027 I got a first look on tape from a few weeks ago while peaking at our upcoming 2027 rankings was Sioux Falls Washington’s Kaden Carroll Kaden Carroll DB Sioux Falls Washington | 2027 SD . In the reps I watched out of Kaden, I certainly saw a DB prospect that I thought had the most upside out there amongst the 2027 class of defensive backs we had in attendance at the Prep Redzone Dakotas Combine. He was poised for his age in those 1v1 reps I took in, as he was tangible in his pass coverage and as the defensive backs like to say, he put “the clamps” on one of the wide receivers which impressed me in his first live evaluation I have gotten. A 2027 prospect that left with good marks on his first live-eval and is one that I hope grows out his frame, skillsets, athleticism over the next coming years.
DK Gora DK Gora 6’0″ | 165 lbs | DB Stillwater | 2025 MN made the most of his 4.5 hour drive from Stillwater, Minnesota to come into our Dakotas Combine as our Defensive Back MVP. Some dudes just smash the eye test when they walk in, and DK is one that showed off quickly just off a rep or two. You could tell his ball-tracking skills showed off natural athleticism, as DK was consistency the most sensible defensive back with his feel around the pass-catchers he went up against. The explosiveness DK showed off in testing was most dominant in the broad jump as he posted one of the highest numbers at 9’5 amongst the group. DK holds one NSIC offer thus far, but this young man is going to have a big summer on the camp circuit, mark my words.
