Hudson Shea
Hudson Shea
Hudson Shea Laurier commit is playing his summer season with the Oshawa Hawkeyes and if he plays anything like he did this weekend, he will have a great season. Hudson picked up 2 sacks in the game and was giving the Toronto offensive line issues. He would beat guys with the bull rush, but then also switch it up and try beating them with other moves as well. Hudson was also able to pick up a receiving TD on the goal line, where he came in as the TE and ran a 3-yard out route to score. This just shows that he is a very athletic D-lineman. I am looking forward to seeing what he does in the OSFL season.
Rowan Campbell
Rowan Campbell
Rowan Campbell had a very good showing in the pre-season game, where he picked up 4 tackles and a safety out of the CB position. Being 6 foot and 185 pounds makes him a much more solid DB, which allows him to get more physical with WR and RB. In the game, you would often see him pop off his block like it was nothing and barrel his way down to the RB to pick up a tackle for loss. Rowan also played very well in coverage, not giving up a single yard. In this pre-season game, they had a lot of other players coming in and out that might not be your typical starter, but Rowan took it upon himself to help teach the other players what to do on each play. This shows how well his understanding of the playbook is, as he is able to know where each position is supposed to go on the field. If he continues to stay physical and aggressive with these WR and RBs, he could have a very big season upon himself.
Denzel Igiehon
Denzel Igiehon
Denzel Igiehon did not get to make a huge impact on the game, but he still stood out to me. What really caught my eye was how fast he is. I would see him on the left side of the field to start the play but then end up on the right sideline getting involved in a tackle, which was impressive. He also did not give up many yards to the guys he was guarding throughout the game. Denzel was also involved in a fake punt, where he would be the punter and take the snap and take off with the ball. This fake punt play was another way that he was able to show off his speed. If it were up to me, I would try to find another way to get the ball in his hands because of how fast he is. I’m looking forward to seeing what the OSFL season has in store for him.
Cooper Mann
Cooper Mann
Cooper Mann had a big game running the ball with 2 TDs and over 170 all-purpose yards. When I was watching him play, it was like watching a pinball as he went through the line. Toronto had a hard time bringing him down because of his explosive spurts of speed and his quick jump cut. Cooper was able to take plays that looked like he would be tackled for a loss or small gain and pop them for another 7 to 10 yards. Even with his small stature, he is able to get physical with the defensive line and break off tackles. When he gets to the second level, he can make secondaries miss with his athleticism. If Cooper plays like he did this week all season, he is bound to attract more eyes to him.
Ethan Rhoden
Ethan Rhoden
Ethan Rhoden was all over the field last game. I was able to see Ethan take snaps at both WR and RB and he was effective in both positions, but if it were up to me, I would say he stood out the most when he was playing at RB. Ethan’s blazing speed makes it tough for defenders to even attempt to tackle him, as he will run right past you. He scored a TD that got called back but on the play you could see why they try to get him the ball as much as possible. He also returned a couple of punts and kicks that showcased how fast he truly is. He also likes to use a quick cut move to allow him to get space to explode out of the cut. Due to the lack of holes to run through, it made his job a lot more difficult, but he still was able to standout. He is someone that you can’t forget about when game planning because if you do he will make you pay. I am looking forward to seeing what he will be able to do this season.
