Scout’s Notes: Defensive Backs
Raoncocas Valley’s Sean Fitzpatrick Sean Fitzpatrick 5'8" | 165 lbs | DB Rancocas Valley | 2025 NJ was a highly fluid defensive back that left an impression on me. Fitzpatrick was able to maintain superior pad level and stay low throughout his back pedal, break, and when having to change direction. More impressive, he did not lose any speed when doing so….. Traveling from a-ways away, Damani Williams Damani Williams 6'0" | 155 lbs | QB Dwight Morrow | 2025 NJ represented the Super Football Conference and did a really nice job in doing so. Williams stood out due to his explosiveness. This manifested as how he was able to arrive early at a spot to play the ball. Additionally, it also turned up with his closing speed. Quick feet also allow him to shadow/mirror receivers movements at the line without his hands extremely well.
Kameron White Kameron White 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Kingsway | 2025 NJ was a prospect out of Kingsway that I previewed heading into the event. White reads the hips of his matchup very well and seems to like to play over top of defenders, not every allowing anyone to take the lid off of him. White’s hips were rather fluid as he was able to roll his hips to the outside, probelling himself to braek on the ball very well. Despite strong eye discipline, there was one instance where he bit on a double-move. To prevent this I would encourage him to use his hands a bit more so he can feel the movements of his matchup throughout the course of his route….. Justin Silva Justin Silva 6'1" | 170 lbs | DB Southern Regional | 2025 NJ is a name and a face that I have wrote about and now seem repeatedly. Silva was relatively explosive, gaining great breaks on the ball and gets to his spots early. This always give himself a chance to make a big play, or at a minimum, disallowing anything cheap and easy.
Another northerner venturing into southern part of the state was Jayden David Jayden David DB North Bergen | 2026 NJ from North Bergen. What impressed me about the Bear was that despite heavy contact at times, he was able to play through it. Even against targets who seemed to have size advantages against him, he was able to win and come up with the ball as he fought through heavy contact….. On the other hand, Elias Pagan Elias Pagan 5'11" | 155 lbs | DB Pennsauken | 2026 NJ did not travel far as he took the short drive in from Pennsauken. I thought Pagan was one of the quicker, faster prospects in the secondary to participate. This is a positive attribute to possess in any prospect. One thing I want to see Pagan refine a bit is how he plays when he out runs and is clearly over the top on a receiver. He was so fast that he managed to get almost too far ahead of his matchup.
Closing out today is Jyair Moore Jyair Moore 5'7" | 160 lbs | DB Washington Township | 2026 NJ from Washington Township. Moore showcased the ability to play underneath coverage/trail technique very well. He has a very balanced stance that prevents him from looking like anything less than an athlete and also possesses solid make up speed. Moore also had a tendency to both jam and press at the line, bullying matchups on occasion. One area where I think Moore can improve is by loosening up his hips. Despite the make up speed he possesses, should he get turned I worry about his hips being able to recover in time.
