The circuit of back-to-back-to-back weekends on the road has come to a conclusion, as I was fortunate to attend Coach Nick Pennisi's PSR BIG Camp Series on Saturday, May 11. This marks the second year in a row that I covered the event. Pennisi has grown his significantly from last year. With over 400 prospects registered for the event, I had my work cut out for me to identify and scout some of the event's standouts. As I feverishly wrote notes, here are my scouting notes from the position group disclosed in this article's title.

Scout's Notebook: Offensive Line

[player_tooltip player_id='1286666' first='Evan' last='Kennedy'] from Pope John appears to pack a serious punch. While participating in pull sequence drills, Kennedy asserted himself while working the bags. He moved in space with solid bend, making sure to explode low-to-high in the process. During the competition phase, Kennedy continued to make some noise. Much like defenders are actually taught to do, Kennedy often found himself walking his matchup backwards into the lap of, what would have been, their linebacker..... From Jackson Memorial was [player_tooltip player_id='284075' first='Vincent' last='LoPiccolo']. LoPiccolo might not have been the heaviest or thickens lineman in attendance as he profiled a bit more on the leaner side; however, he showcased exceptional feet as a tradeoff. LoPiccolo was extremely light on his feet during line shuffle drills. The lightness of his feet allowed him to move quickly and get to his spots in a hurry.

From Kingsway came [player_tooltip player_id='1286664' first='Joshua' last='Witherspoon']. Witherspoon has great side for any position along the high school offensive line (6'4" 280lbs), but probably projects out as an interior lineman in college. Side aside, his skills are reminiscent of what makes solid guards. Witherspoon was able to bend well, lowering his pad level in the process. Supplementing that, Witherspoon gets off the ball extremely well, firing out low and hard. I also liked his kick - kick step and kick outs alike. Witherspoon kept reaching back, vertically, with his kick step in order to play both the speed and protect his inside well. His kick outs were also strong as he buzzed his feet through contact..... For as big as Witherspoon and many others were, [player_tooltip player_id='1286668' first='Jeremiah' last='Colon'] was the antithesis of this. The Woodbridge product was shorter than most of both his competition and contemporaries, yet he wielded this to his advantage. Colon's height allowed him to play low and have superior leverage against all his matchups. Additionally, he was much quicker than most. This allowed Colon masterfully apply his technique once he got to his spots and win numerous matchups.

St. Peter's Prep sent offensive lineman [player_tooltip player_id='1286665' first='Elijah' last='Knowles'] up to compete. A bit on the heavier side at 315lbs, I was surprised how Knowles feet moved - laterally in particularly. He shuffled and powered down very well, taking away inside threats ad nauseam. A few reps that I caught of Knowles' he seemed to favor the side he was moving to just a bit, meaning in other words he was not always square to the line of scrimmage. Just something to be conscientious of, as you figure pads may only exaggerate this..... [player_tooltip player_id='1271503' first='Robert' last='Yakovchuk'] from Brick had a few matchups bricking themselves every now and again. Yakovchuk's edge was with the physicality he brought to each spin he took. Really taking it to mostly everyone, Yakovchuk drove several of his matchups either out of the frame or way past center if they chose to cross his face.

There were few prospects bigger than [player_tooltip player_id='723589' first='Elijah' last='Thomas'] from St. Thomas Aquinas. Not just guy with size, Thomas as the power to match. On one go that I caught of Thomas his punch set, literally, sent his matchup flying backwards. I would describe it as his opponent getting airborne and sent diagonally away from the point where he started with his hand in the dirt about 3 yards. It was an incredible display of Thomas' strength..... North Brunswick [player_tooltip player_id='829433' first='Ruhan' last='Sriram'] is actually a prospect I recall seeing last year. Because of his size and despite his age (2027 graduate), last year at this same event he was thrust to compete with the older prospects - which was probably unfair. This year Sriram looked like a new man physically, technically, and competitively. Winning probably about just as many matchups that got the better of him, Sriram would be best served to be mindful of how lateral his kick steps get. The tradeoff for getting too wide is that it creates a seam for inside, cross-face penetration.
