In a semi-new offseason series I'm launching, I'll be headlining the biggest breakout candidates in each conference. These breakout players mainly come from my Hudl Discoveries series, in addition to the site rankings. So, here are the first five potential breakout prospects!

'26 DL | [player_tooltip player_id='1290823' first='Andrew' last='Kileen'] | Catholic Central | @kileen_andrew

Andrew could be a huge boom player on the CC defensive line. Elite size, and versatility make him a very intriguing prospect heading into next season. The thing is, he's quite raw fundamentally. His getoff and his hands need a lot of work, but I'm very confident he'll get coached up. He has a few flashes stopping the run, but really needs to fill out his frame and become fundamentally stronger in order to reach that next level.

'25 OLB | [player_tooltip player_id='1290840' first='Tyler' last='Brinks'] | South Christian | @tyler_brinks

I'm extremely excited to see how Tyler is utilized next season. This is a player with absolutely elite size. Everything from height, frame, and arm length is extremely intriguing to High-tier D2 or MAC colleges. Last season, he showed a lot of promise as an EDGE rusher. He's quick and can stop the run very well. I've also seen Tyler practice as a tight end, and there's some real potential there as well. With just a bit of improvement, Tyler could have an amazing season and earn legitimate D1 attention.

'25 DT | [player_tooltip player_id='1290859' first='Jayden' last='Fles'] | Unity Christian | @FlesJayden

Jayden is a solid defensive tackle with several standout plays on his highlight reel. He is surprisingly fast and agile, with an excellent get-off that quickly gives him an advantage over opposing linemen. His highlights consistently showcase his tremendous effort and relentless motor. While it's unclear if this effort is present on every down (a common issue for defensive tackles), it's evident that Jayden is a playmaker. Although Jayden is quite physical, he still needs to improve his hand techniques and block-shedding abilities. This, combined with strategic stunts, frequently allows him to penetrate the backfield. Once there, he excels at reading the guards and swiftly tackling the running back. So, there's a lot to love about Jayden's game. He's just got to keep working, keep watching film, and keep up his conditioning.

'25 DT | Ja'Mari Taylor | Mona Shores | @JaMari_taylor60

There's a lot to love about Ja'Mari's current tape. His 6'1" 290lb size allows him to stay anchored and gives him immense potential in stopping the run. Although he's extremely strong, he needs to work on imposing his will on offensive linemen. Whether it's an effort, fundamental, or conditioning thing, Ja'Mari needs to learn how to better utilize his body and physical strength. He would also greatly improve by increased speed and flexibility. I really hope Ja'Mari is getting out there this summer to work on his physical skills, because he could very easily develop into a great college prospect.

'25 DB | [player_tooltip player_id='1290900' first='Mhakai' last='Lennox-Brooks'] | Muskegon | @MhakaiB

This is a player that I saw consistently improve as the season went on. Mhakai had a few early-season struggles in 2023, but quickly emerged as one of the best defensive back in Division 2. I'm frankly surprised that he hasn't received more offers than Wayne State. Maybe he's not going to be at many camps this summer, but either way, he's 100% a GLIAC talent. Namely, I've seen him lock up several great prospects in 1on1 man coverage. He also has good ball skills and made a few great plays on the ball deep in the postseason. I would like to see him more in press coverage, but still, this is a sleeper prospect and someone who I hope will show out all season.
